Southern Cal vs Oregon NCAA Football Odds
The Trojans of Southern California will travel to Eugene to take on the No. 4 Oregon Ducks on Saturday.
Both of these teams come into this game with hot streaks going, which could turn this into quite a match-up. This could also prove to be a round one preview between these two as they both lead their respective divisions in the Pac 12.

The Trojans who rolled again last week at home against a good Washington team, bears a striking resemblance to another from the Pac 12 –the Stanford Cardinal. In as they both have outstanding quarterbacks, but generally go as far as their running game takes them.
However, since the return of Marc Tyler, this USC running attack has just taken off. They have two guys back there that can create havoc for any defense in the country in Tyler, and the man he is behind on the depth chart, Curtis McNeal.
Then you factor in quarterback Matt Barkley, and you have the makings for an outstanding team. A team that is definitely not going to roll over on the road even though they technically have nothing to play for while serving their second of a two year NCAA sanctioned bowl ban.
The Trojans come into this one with one of the top ranked offenses in the country because they are so balanced. The difference between their offense, and the top tier offenses in the country, is the fact that they sometimes struggle to punch the ball into the end zone.
USC falls just outside of the top 25 in that department, coming in at number 26 with just over 34 points a game. Then you look at what is possibly the best offense in the country on the other side —with the Oregon Ducks, and they have no problem racking up and average of 46 points per game. Meanwhile, neither of these defensive units exactly blow you away with how good they are. Both units are solid, and can generally get the job done when they look for a big stop. That will likely prove to be a non factor in this tilt however. There aren’t many defenses in the country that can stop these two offensive units. Slow down maybe.
As we’ve seen time and time again, Oregon relies on the run, but it will be interesting to see how they fare against the run defense of USC. This is a unit that gives up just barely over 100 yards a game.
It will likely fall on the shoulders of Ducks’ quarterback Darren Thomas who was definitely able to rise to the occasion a week ago. But will he be able to do it twice in a row?
Matt’s Prediction: Oregon 52, USC 31 —
Sure, USC’s run defense is an outstanding unit, but they will still have a hard time slowing down the Quack attack, just solely due to the fact that you can’t sell out for it with eight or nine in the box.
Thomas may not be best quarterback in the nation, but Oregon’s offense is one that allows him to succeed with underneath routes and quick slants that are very hard to defend against when you have speed on the edge. This is something that Oregon has a plethora of.
While I think USC will hang around in the first half, Oregon will prove to be too strong in the end.
