Week 1 NCAA Football Betting Recap | Week 2 Preview

Where did all the points go?

Some crazy stuff happened during Week 1 of the college football season. From a handicapping standpoint, the most intriguing was the under going 22-15-1 at the end of Sunday’s action. Even the one overtime game (Minnesota 23, Syracuse 20, with the Orange cashing in as 7-point home dogs) sailed below the posted total of 48.5. The under went 21-19-1 during Week 1 of the 2008 season and 27-19-1 in 2007, so it’s not unusual for offenses across the nation to get off to a rough start.

Futures Gambling: World Cup Odds

World Cup 2010 South Africa

Everybody gets to play. That’s the spirit of the 2010 World Cup, which actually started back in 2007 with a record 204 teams. They’ll be whittled down by November to the 32 countries who will participate in South Africa – assuming the tournament doesn’t have to be relocated because of strike activity or any of the other logistical challenges facing the organizers. Last month’s Confederations Cup appeared to go off without a hitch; FIFA president Sepp Blatter estimates the hosts are “75 percent” of the way there.

British Open Review

Bodog Sportsbook 2009 British Open Recap

The British Open is the hardest event in golf – hardest to win, and hardest on the soul, as Tom Watson can tell you.

Watson went to the 18th tee at 3-under and one stroke ahead of Stewart Cink, who earlier drained a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole to stay within shouting distance of the 59-year-old legend. Needing only to make an eight-foot par putt to claim his sixth Open Championship and first since 1983, Watson came up short. Then Cink easily put away his opponent by six strokes over the four-hole playoff to hoist the Claret Jug for the first time.

Sportsbetting.com NFL Odds – Patriots Lines

NFL: Will The Patriots Rise Again?

It wasn’t that long ago that the New England Patriots were a near surefire bet.

The sportsbooks couldn’t put up a number high enough on them as they steamrolled their way to a perfect 8-0 straight up and 8-0 ATS mark through the first half of the 2007 season.

And while Tom Brady and crew continued on chasing the perfect season in the second half, the tide turned for the sports betting community, as a combination of sky-high pointspreads and opposing team’s ability to somewhat gameplan for them, kept things closer. The result was an 8-0 run straight up, but only a 2-6 mark against the spread.

NHL Betting: Final Week Of The Regular Season

NHL Rivalry Week

Give the people what they want.

Commissioner Gary Bettman has gotten mixed reviews since he took over the NHL’s top job in 1993. His legacy includes two work stoppages, getting and losing TV deals with FOX and ESPN, and aggressive expansion (some would say over-expansion) into the United States. But all is forgotten when the puck drops on a game that people care about.
