The Oregon Ducks travel to San Diego to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Holiday Bowl. The Ducks were oh so close again to getting to the Rose Bowl this season but the USC Trojans found a way not to get into the BCS Championship and instead got a bid to the Rose Bowl. Oregon is coming off of a smashing victory over rival Oregon State in their Pac-10 finale.
The Missouri Tigers had everything going their way at the beginning of the season. They had Chase Daniels back at quarterback, they didn’t lose any key defensive players, and if anything they were going to be better because of the experience they garnered by playing in a BCS Bowl Game in 2007. But something happened once the season started – – the Tigers played below expectations.
Northwestern’s defense did a heck of a job this year. Only two teams exceeded 30 points against them (Michigan State and Ohio State) and the Wildcats limited capable offensive clubs like Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa to 17, 10 and 17 points respectively. All told, they allowed just 19.2 points per game.

LeFevour, who can run (536 yards rushing) or pass, completed 66% of his passes this season with 19 touchdowns, and took care of the ball very well, with just five interceptions.
For a bowl game being played Christmas Eve night, matching two teams totaling a dozen defeats, this contest has gotten a fair amount of buzz.
With the Notre Dame Fighting Irish listed as 2 ½-point favorites in Hawaii and playing after a nice vacation, this is an intriguing matchup. It will also either symbolize the dawning of a new era for Charlie Weis and Notre Dame or start the slow dance ritual of Weis being shown the door in about 11 months.
