NBA Wednesday Preview
Wednesday’s NBA betting schedule has 10 games on tap, including some monster matchups between Eastern and Western powers. Here’s a look at Wednesday’s must-bet games:
The Cleveland Cavaliers (20-8 SU, 13-15 ATS, 12-14-2 O/U) will be looking to get back in the win column after having their five-game winning streak snapped on Sunday.
The Phoenix Suns (18-9 SU, 16-11 ATS, 9-16-2 O/U) have alternated wins and losses over their last six games and will be looking to record consecutive victories for the first time this month.
The Utah Jazz (16-11 SU, 15-12 ATS, 16-10-1 O/U) will be looking to regain the consistency they lost just after the month of December began. After winning seven of its previous eight games, the Jazz have hone just 5-4 over its last nine game while alternating wins and losses in each of their last five games overall.

The Miami Heat have not won back to back games twice in over five weeks and they will attempt to do so at home against their in-state and division rival Orlando. That is the first of two games on TNT Thursday night. The nightcap matches Phoenix and Portland.
Spurs vs. Suns (-1)
(O/U) 210½
Tuesday, December 15 10:00 PM ET
Usually, an early season matchup between the Phoenix Suns (16-8 SU, 14-10 ATS, 7-15-2 O/U) and San Antonio Spurs (12-9 SU, 10-11 ATS, 11-10 O/U) doesn’t mean very much in the grand scheme of each team’s playoff mindset.
Lakers vs. Bulls (+10½)
(O/U) 194½
Tuesday, December 15 8:00 PM ET
Having lost eight of its last 10 games, the Chicago Bulls (8-14 SU, 5-15-2 ATS, 7-15 O/U) have plenty of problems of their own to deal with right now. Rumors are buzzing that the franchise is set to fire head coach Vinny Del Negro and the team has not shown much to believe in all season long.
Lakers (+4) at Nuggets (-4)
(O/U) 212
Tonight at 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Lakers (7-1 SU, 3-5 ATS, 5-3 O/U) beat down one challenger for their Western Conference crown on Thursday. Tonight, they will look to repeat the feat when they take to the floor at the Pepsi Center for a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets (6-3 SU, 4-5 ATS, 5-4 O/U).
Raptors (-4) at Clippers (+4)
(O/U) 204½
Tonight at 10:30 PM ET
The Toronto Raptors (4-4 SU, 4-4 ATS, 5-3 O/U) just can’t find any consistency this season, not a good way for the team to try and hold on to franchise player and impending free agent forward Chris Bosh.
Houston (-4½) at Sacramento (+4½)
(O/U) 206
Tonight at 10:00 PM ET
The Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings have both gotten off to surprising starts this season, despite predictions by NBA experts everywhere that both ballclubs would struggle immensely.
If we could give you one sound piece of basketball betting advice, it would be to pay close attention to the injury reports. This is more important in the NBA than in any of the other major team sports.
We’re talking 12-man rosters, with the starting five hogging most of the minutes. A team can only accomplish so much when one of those players goes down.
Bob will not be offering NBA selections until the second week of the season (Monday, November 9), because the teams will be starting to show some form by then.
In Pro Basketball, winning and losing are often not the final criteria in judging a team. When one team plays better in defeat, than another does in winning, you can gain real value by seeing through the misleading results. When handicapping Pro Basketball, some fundamentals and considerations are not just the venue.
The NBA draft is in the books and the rookie class of 2009/2010 has already finished playing summer league ball. In another couple of months training camp will be opening and these guys will get to work for real. There are many teams that are hanging their hopes that their top rookie can step in right away and contribute in a big way.
After the 2008 NCAA Basketball season UNC’s Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and Danny Green all flirted with the idea of entering their names into the 2008 NBA Draft. Instead, they all decided to return and we all know the end result.
Now it’s time for their next challenge, the NBA. The Big Apple is the location for Thursday’s NBA Draft and all that remains for these four Tar Heels is where they’ll be selected.
The Lakers almost had the NBA Finals odds wrapped up with a nice little bow entering Game 3; they were ready to cruise to the title and maybe hit the golf course like those guys playing their St. Jude odds this weekend. Then the pesky Magic had to shoot the lights out – they do that sometimes – and climb back into the series. Can Orlando do it again in Game 4?
