A few years ago a matchup between the Mavericks and Suns would have been a track meet, but both teams have changed their style of play.
The Heat (29-9) have won 10 straight home games, but Dwyane Wade has an injured ankle and Miami will be facing a Hawks (23-15) team that has won 3 straight and is coming off a solid away win over the Indiana Pacers last night.
The Boston Celtics are playing very well right now. They have won 4 in a row heading into their Tuesday nighter against Houston, even though there are all sorts of trade rumours swirling around the team.
Memphis had a terrific run in the NBA playoffs last year. This season started off slowly for the Grizzlies, but they have now won eight of their last nine to get to 22-15 on the season.
In a match up that will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain scoring 100 points in a game the struggling 76ers (21-15) host the Golden State Warriors (14-18).
Jeremy Lin lit up the Mavs in his last outing against them, but he has struggled lately, as the Knicks (18-19) have lost 2 straight road games.

The Spurs (24-10) are a NBA best 13-1 at home this season and even though they have been dealing some injuries they simply keep winning.
Both the Lakers (19-13) and the Mavs (21-12) did not start the season well, but each has gotten back on track. The Lakers beat the Mavs earlier this season in La La Land, but this season they have struggled on the road going 5-11.
The Golden State Warriors are exciting, but I guess not very effective.
Some of the characters have changed but there is still little extra juice in the building when the Suns and Lakers face off.
There are a lot of storylines for this odd, labour stoppage shortened NBA season but there probably isn’t one you can think of that features the Portland Trailblazers.
The Pacers (17-10) have been a surprise this season, but they have dropped a season high 3 straight and getting back on track against the hot Heat, no pun intended, will be far from easy since they have lost 7 of 8 games to Miami.
It is Valentine’s Day but there is not much to like about this matchup, partly because these teams are bad and partly because they will both be missing key players.
The Toronto Raptors are not a very good team. Take away leading scorer Andrea Bargnani ( who has been out in two separate stints) and they can be quite anemic and they will be facing Boston missing Bargnani, and unlikely recent scoring sensation, guard Jeryd Bayless as well.
