 Raptors (9-20) vs Knicks (13-15)

It is Valentine’s Day but there is not much to like about this matchup, partly because these teams are bad and partly because they will both be missing key players.

New York

For the New York Knicks, Carmelo Anthony is out but they might get Amare Stoudemire back in Toronto Tuesday night.

Maybe he will have an easier time meshing his game with Linsanity than with Carmelo.  That duo has been off when they are on the same court this year.

How about that Linsanity?  Jeremy Lin is a nice story that has every other bench player saying just give me a chance coach.  He has probably performed above his head but it seems like he can be a contributor in this league.

I mean is there anybody playing with more confidence right now?  The dude was dueling with Kobe the other night…no matter how well he plays though he needs some help and it has been spotty.

Toronto

The Toronto Raptors are not a very good but give them some props for competing.   [soliloquy id=”82219″]

They beat the Boston Celtics for the first time since Larry Bird played (joke) and nearly upset the L.A. Lakers on Sunday afternoon.  Alas Kobe struck again (he just kills the Raptors).

Their record may be embarrassing but the play is not…most of the time…

…As long as they can score the basketball.  Against L.A. pass first point guard Jose Calderon had a career high 30 points.

It is actually probably good that they lost because now they don’t think that is the formula to win.  This team has been struggling mightily to put the ball in the basket since Andrea Bargnani went down.

The injury to combo guard Jeryd Bayless, who has a little “Microwave” in him isn’t helping either.  When they score enough they can win.

Spread Pick:  Toronto +3.5
O/U Pick: Under
Score Prediction:  Toronto 90 – New York 88
