Preview: Race number 22 of the 36-race NASCAR Sprint Cup season is the second and final road-course race of the year at Watkins Glen International. The schedule calls for just two practice sessions here, both on Friday, and qualifying Saturday morning.
This Sunday, 43 NASCAR drivers will have to do something most of them aren’t used to: make a right turn. They’ll be at Watkins Glen for the second of just two road races on the Sprint Cup circuit, the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen.
That means the NASCAR odds are skewed toward those drivers who have experience in IRL/Champ Car, Formula 1, and anywhere else with winding courses.

Preview: Watkins Glen is the second of two road course races on the Sprint Cup circuit; the first was California’s Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, won by Kasey Kahne in June. But NASCAR’s Matt Kenseth notes that although both races involve road courses, the similarities pretty much end there: “Watkins Glen is quite a bit different than Sonoma and, of the two, I like racing at Watkins Glen better.
