The University of Florida, Gators fans and the team’s boosters are not accustomed to losing. Clearly, last year’s 4-8 effort went over like a lead zeppelin in Gainesville.

There was a lot of criticism of the Florida Gators last year for struggling against some weaker teams on their but they finished 11-2 including a win against Texas A&M and Johnny Manziel. The success was primarily thanks to a top 5 defense as the Gators haven’t really been able to get their offense on track since QB Tim Tebow graduated.
The Gators, long an SEC powerhouse, must rebound from a disappointing 2011 season. Until 2010, Florida (under former head coach Urban Meyer) made appearing in BCS bowls its calling card, winning a national title in ’08 against Oklahoma and a Sugar Bowl in ’09 versus upstart Cincinnati.
New head coach Will Muschamp evidently got tired of being the eternal coach-in-waiting at Texas, and snapped up a plum gig as the head man in Gainesville.
