Less than a week to go before the big game and Super Bowl Predictions are as varied as any Super Bowl in a very long time. Two of the most beloved teams in NFL History take the field in Arlington for what promises to be a classic!
There is no doubting that the Steelers belong in the big game. They have won three AFC Championships in the last six years and have won two of the last five Super Bowls. This season, they played without their franchise quarterback for the first four games and still ended up 12-4. They beat the Ravens and then the Jets to get here. The vaunted defense gave up 400 total yards and gave up just 43 points in those two games.
Offensively, the Steelers are playing solid Super Bowl XLV Predictions football. They aren’t spectacular but they haven’t had to be. Ben Roethlisberger’s numbers don’t jump off the page but he is just doing what he does best win the playoffs – win. Big Ben is 10-2 in the playoffs and knows exactly what it takes to emerge victorious in the big game.
Rashard Mendenhall has been the quintessential workhorse for the Steelers and his hard work is finally starting to pay off. Against the Jets, Mendenhall had 121 yards and a touchdown. With him going strong, the Steelers look to be in good shape. Although the loss of Maurkice Pouncey could hurt the running game a bit.
Pittsburgh’s defense is the Super Bowl XLV Predictions X-factor. Sure they shut down the Jets and the Ravens but the Packers are a totally different challenge. The Steelers know that Green Bay’s 24th ranked rushing offense won’t do much so that leaves the Steelers 12th ranked pass defense against Aaron Rodgers and the boys. I think that Mike Tomlin and Dick LeBeau, with the extra week will have something planned for the Green Bay offense. 
The Green Bay Packers are impressive and will be looking to do what the Giants did only nine years ago – win three straight road playoff games and then the Super Bowl. It’s all systems go in Packer land.
Aaron Rodgers is on fire and most Super Bowl XLV Predictions are hinging on his performance. He has tossed for 790 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions – both ints. in the last game against the Bears. All of his receivers have been lights out during the playoffs so there is no reason to think it can’t continue. However, this unit struggled last week against the Bears defense and now they have to face the Steelers D.
The Green Bay defense has stepped up and served notice that they are a truly elite unit. On the road, in the playoffs, they have given up just 17 points per game. Their line has been superb along with the secondary – Tramon Williams Charles Woodson and Sam Shields have been impressive indeed!
Super Bowl XLV Analysis & My Predictions:
The Super Bowl is shaping up like a Steelers type of game – low scoring and extremely close. Simply put, I trust Ben Roethlisberger more the oft-concussed Aaron Rodgers in a slug-it-out tilt. Gimme the Steelers!

It is set at 44.5 even though these teams defenses combined to give up a total of 29.5 points per game this season. These are the cream of the crop defenses that are at the tops of their games – 44.5 is a bit rich!
The Total has gone Under in five of the last six Super Bowls.
