NHL news: Mason Raymond fractures vertebrae
The Vancouver Canucks got some really bad news on top of losing Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final to the Boston Bruins last night. Forward Mason Raymond fell awkwardly into the boards when he was tangled with Johnny Boychuk. He lay face down on the ice for several minutes before his teammates helped him off the ice. He didn’t appear to be moving his legs.
As it turns out, Raymond has fractured vertebrae in his neck. There’s no word yet on how long the injury will sideline him or if it’s career-threatening. The play went unpenalized and the Canucks called for a league review because it has been speculated that Raymond could be sidelined four to six months making team brass furious.
Boychuk claimed he didn’t know what occurred on the play that will likely mean Jeff Tambellini will slot into the second line for Game 7 as Raymond’s replacement. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

I’m not sure the Canucks will miss Raymond. He can’t hit the net with his shots anyways.
