NBA news: Patrick Ewing to coach Pistons?
Is Patrick Ewing a major candidate to coach the Detroit Pistons? It appears so.
Team owner Tom Gores hired former New York Knicks executive Dave Checketts as a consultant, which many people believe is linked to Ewing being mentioned as a coaching candidate. 
Checketts was president of the Knicks during the Ewing glory days of 1991 to 1995.
Celtics exercise option on Green
Not surprisingly, the Boston Celtics are exercising forward Jeff Green’s contract option. The city was already up in arms when the team acquired Green from Oklahoma City for Kendrick Perkins, so the Celtics couldn’t risk the PR nightmare of not retaining Green.
He averaged 15.1 points over three seasons with the Thunder.
Biyombo in contract dispute
Gulp. Bismack Biyombo was already questioned as a top draft pick by the Charlotte Bobcats last week. Is it possible that Charlotte may also lose his services? He has not settled his contract buyout with Spanish team Fuenlabrada. The club is fine with Biyombo’s desire to play in the NBA but still expects to be paid its $1.4-million buyout. NBA rules, however state that Charlotte can only contribute $500,000. Is this another Ricky Rubio situation?
