Enjoy!

Questions abound in today’s news. Will The Sanchize go under the knife? Is Steven Jackson – the other Steven Jackson – a criminal?

Let’s see what we can find out.

NFL news: Knee surgery could loom for Sanchez

It seems Mark Sanchez played his rookie season slightly hurt. He hurt his left patella ligament in college and could opt for offseason surgery to stabilize the knee. Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said the surgery isn’t major and wouldn’t keep Sanchez out of 2010 Jets training camp. Originally, Sanchez’s right knee was the problem, as he sprained his PCL during the season, but it looks like it will be just fine.

Uh-oh. Here’s yet another scandal for the NFL. This time, it involves Steven Jackson. His girlfriend, Supriya Harris, filed a complaint with the Las Vegas PD this week claiming Jackson assaulted her while she was nine-months pregnant in March 2008. Jackson’s camp called the accusations “untrue” and “hurtful.”

On the lighter side of things, Chad Ochocinco is up to his old tricks. This time, he wants to kick in the Pro Bowl. He first tried it last August in a preseason game, booting what turned out to be the game-winning extra point against the Patriots. He also had a deep kickoff during that game. There’s no reason why the coaches shouldn’t let Ochocinco try it; the NFL has to give people some reason to watch sports’ worst All-Star game.

MLB news: One fan could make more money than Evan Longoria in 2010

Believe it or not, one video gamer will make $1,000,000 this spring, which would trump Evan Longoria’s 2010 salary of $950,000. The MLB 2K10 gaming franchise, which features Longoria as its cover boy, will award a million bucks to the first player who throws a perfect game under specific settings (and films it). It’s a good thing 2K Sports has its priorities straight; why donate to a worthy charity or certain Earthquake relief fund when some pimple-faced teen is labouring away on his Xbox, earning his million?

Things continue to look up for the Seattle Mariners, who won 85 games last year and were among the league’s busiest teams this offseason. The latest news comes from legend Ken Griffey Jr. He battled a bum knee last year to hit .214 with 19 homers but will reportedly arrive at training camp “ripped,” having lost seven pounds in the off season at age 40. If you wanted one more reason to cheer for Seattle this year, there’s one.

NHL news: Fans revolt against New York Rangers GM Sather

Well, anyone who says social media create a tighter global community isn’t yanking your chain. New York Rangers fan Mike Zippo is fed up with Glen Sather’s management of the New York Rangers and has organized at least 400 fans so far for a March 7 protest outside Madison Square Garden – a “Fire Sather Rally.”

Love Sather or hate him, few moments prove his senility more in my mind than what he did at the 2004 trade deadline (so yes – he was senile six years ago). Remember when he traded a Ranger player to all six Canadian teams over the course of a week? Suspicious and hilarious.
