Vijay Dropping Out Of World Top 50

We can’t go more than a few days without Tiger news, can we? We’ll start today with an update on his health.

PGA news: Tiger in for British Open, Hank Haney opens up; Vijay falls out of top 50

Tiger can’t pass up the chance to become the British Open’s first three-time winner at St. Andrews. Despite battling an inflamed neck joint, he’s added the Open Championship to his schedule for July 15 to 18.

He’ll also play the U.S. Open at his old stomping grounds, Pebble Beach, plus the AT&T National at Aronimink.

Hank Haney has had no problems opening up about Tiger since quitting as his swing coach last week. He answered boatloads of different questions and verified some rights and wrongs about Tiger’s sex addiction and rumored PED use. Hank acknowledged that the sex addiction was real and that Tiger was “doing a good job” dealing with it. But Haney also claimed any rumored use of performance enhancers was completely false.

Haney said he spent “110 days with Tiger a year for six years” and 40 to 50 nights at Tiger’s house per year and that he never saw him do any PEDs.

Is 47-year-old Vijay Singh counting the days until he turns 50 and can start Fred Couplesing the Champions Tour? It’s the beginning of the end for him in the PGA if the World Golf Rankings mean anything. Vijay fell out of the top 50 this week for the first time in almost 18 years.

Even worse: if Vijay can’t climb back into the top 50 in one week, he’ll have to qualify for the U.S. Open.

NBA news: Kobe appears on Modern Family tomorrow: LeBron gets a parade

The ABC hit comedy Modern Family just got a lot more relevant to sports fans. Kobe Bryant will appear on tomorrow night’s episode. Will he have a major role? Who knows – ABC is keeping things quiet.

Fans of the L.A. Clippers – the Clippers have fans!? – Seem a bit delusional. So delusional, in fact, that they believe they’re in the hunt for LeBron James this summer. So delusional that they’re planning a march around Staples Center at 6:00 p.m. ET on May 27 to “Bring LeBron to the L.A. Clippers.”  Good luck with that, Clips.

NFL news: Andre Johnson wants new deal; Bryan Bulaga the home run machine? Shots fired at Lambeau Field?

Andre Johnson has torn up the NFL over the last two seasons, posting back to back 1,500-yard efforts, and believes he’s exceeded his contract value as a result. That’s why he skipped the Houston Texans first voluntary practice yesterday. Johnson still has five years remaining on his eight-year, $60-million contract but wants a major pay hike.

The way the Milwaukee Brewers’ season has gone so far, it needs all the help it can get. No wonder they invited the Green Bay Packers to take batting practice over the weekend. Packers’ first-round pick Bryan Bulaga put on quite the show, cranking 14 homers. Prince Fielder was impressed, claiming that many of the homers were moonshots.

It’s probably a good thing that the Pack spent the weekend at Miller Park instead of their own stadium. Green Bay police found two bullet holes in the glass atrium at Lambeau Field – one 12 feet off the ground and one 40 feet up. No one was hurt. The police believe the shots were fired Sunday night and have declared the stadium safe for visitors.
