It is hard to find fault with a perfect showing so far but Belgium has not been overly impressive with only 4 goals through the three games they have played so far.
Only two other teams gave up just a single goal but I think their overall success will be more greatly determined by their offensive abilities. That said they do get a nice draw with the US.
A likely date with Argentina looms though.
Given pre-tournament expectations there is some good value on this one.
The American always draw attention at the books which I think is why this one looks so good. Belgium should win and if we are lucky they will do so again in humdrum fashion and remain under the radar for as long as they are in the tournament.

These teams have not met often with Belgium beating the US in 2011 and 2013.
USA
While it was far from the most inspiring of performances USA survived their “ESPN coined Group of Death” (even though the real group of death was Costa Rica’s) experience.
They beat Ghana, drew with Portugal but really their most impressive feat might have been limiting a strong German team to just a goal in a 1-0 loss.
Now they face another strong European team in Belgium, everyone’s pre-tournament sleeper. USA is going to be in tight and will have to play another strong defensive game to prevail.
I just don’t think they have the offense to counter though.
The key for this one is how the US approach the game. They are kind of playing with house money so will they be aggressive or play it a little but safe – they might want to try and draw this one out and play for penalty kicks.
There is no doubt they are lighter on the talent side but they have been well organized at the World Cup so far.
They have beaten Belgium just once in three attempts, that was back in 1930.
I think the run for this USA team is over.
I expect that they will play well but fall short against a Belgium team that is just better. The US just does not have the kind of scoring talent that some of the more traditional powers does and that will hurt them in this one.
Belgium at -118 is pretty good for one of the tournament favourites when this all began.
