The last two clubs in the EPL with a zero in the loss column will tangle on Sunday in a much anticipated match up that has been built up throughout the week by managers Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho firing barbs at one another through the media.

With Chelsea sitting atop the league at present and looking every bit the runaway favourite to take home the league title, Arsenal will be in tough this week to keep their undefeated record in tact.

Let’s take a look at how these teams will stack up and how they have performed recently.

Chelsea

The home side have been rolling thus far in the EPL, buoyed by off-season addition Diego Costa who has been a goal scoring machine with eight goals in six league matches. Midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas will play his former club for the first time this week; Fabregas spent the bulk of his early footballing career at Arsenal (2003-2011) before departing for Barcelona.

As mentioned, this team sits atop the league and have only dropped two points in six matches, that coming in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City. The Blues weren’t overpowering in their mid-week UEFA Champions League match with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, but did manage to come out with a 1-0 win on the road.

Manager Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a stranglehold over Arsene Wenger and has not lost in the last 11 matches that the two have clashed, with six wins and five draws. One of those six wins was a 6-0 thrashing the last time the clubs met in March.

Arsenal

It has been a ho-hum kind of start to the season for Arsenal who look to be on pace for another fourth place finish. Their inability to beat big clubs such as Tottenham and Manchester City has been a constant thorn in this team’s side and a big reason as to why they have been unable to crack the top two for years.

The Gunners squeaked out a 1-1 draw a week ago against Tottenham last week at home thanks to a late Alex Oxlade-Chamerlain goal. This club has looked sharp in possession at times but have not been able to find a lot of finishing touch around the net.

New addition Danny Welbeck did his part in taking some stress off the Arsenal fans with regard to their goal scoring woes; the striker netted a hat trick in the club’s mid-week Champions League tilt against Galatasaray. The Gunners played arguably their best game of the season in their 4-1 win over the Turkish club.

Welbeck has found some chemistry with off-season addition Alexis Sanchez and the two could blossom into a similar type of tandem that Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge were for Liverpool a season ago.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Free Pick

It’s difficult to see any way that Arsenal can win this one. Chelsea are just a stronger side man for man in most every part of the park. In midfield these two sides are very close to even, but Chelsea have the distinct edge going forward and scoring goals, while they are the stronger side on defense as well.

Arsenal’s undefeated streak comes to an end this week as Mourinho continues his dominance of Arsene Wenger and Arsenal.

Go with Chelsea to win this one, paying -154 on the money line.
