Bettors are always looking for that sure win system to pick winning selections in football. Usually they’ll find something that seems to work for a few games, then after two straight losers they’ll jump off of it like a sinking ship.
For years, pro football has been the sports leader when it comes to parity. Pete Rozelle was credited with, “On any given Sunday any team can beat another.” You say, “Wait a minute — the Saints and Colts started 16-0 SU/11-5 ATS. Where’s the parity?” How about four wins by the Colts of 4 points or less? They didn’t lose a game in the first half of the season, but were far from dominant.
The season is winding down, and with it the teams that remain unbeaten, count 6, but the 1 loss teams have suffered a lot of causalties, and have now dwindled to just 2, with Pittsburgh, and Georgia Tech the lone survivors at 1 loss.
The National Championship picture is beginning to become more and more evident, so let’s take a look at what lies ahead.
Does anyone want to win the Pac-10?
The conference’s ticket to the Rose Bowl is still up for grabs with the Pac-10’s contenders dropping games week after week.
The Oregon Ducks appeared to have their BCS bowl dreams shattered with a 51-42 loss to Stanford in Week 10, opening the door for the Arizona Wildcats to control their destiny at the top of the conference.
The Texas Longhorns are all but guaranteed a spot in the BCS Championship – that is, if they take care of business in their remaining schedule. Standing in the way of Texas and a shot at the national title are just two regular season contests and the Big 12 title game, starting with the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 12.
