Wild Card Weekend NFL Spread: Colts vs. Chargers

Point spread and prediction for the wild card weekend nfl playoff clash between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Diego Chargers plus the betting spreads, and betting trends for nfl football gambling…

AFC Wild-Card Indianapolis Colts vs San Diego Chargers

Sports betting fans can’t help but feel that the San Diego Chargers backed their way into the playoffs. The Chargers needed the AFC West division leading, at the time, Denver Broncos to lose three games in a row in order to make the playoffs. Well, that’s what happened. It doesn’t mean that the Chargers are all of a sudden worthy of the 8 to 1 BetUS online sportsbook wagering odds that they were at in the beginning of the season to win the Super Bowl. It does mean that the Bolts get to test if they are a playoff worthy team against the hottest team in the NFL. The Chargers are solid offensively with Philip Rivers and LaDanian Tomlinson but defensively it might be another story. Against the BetUS online sportsbook betting spread, the Chargers went 7-8-1 during the regular season.

The Indianapolis Colts played well enough to win a division. Unfortunately the Tennessee Titans, who just went crazy this year, are in their division. So Indy had to settle for the top wild-card spot. The Colts are simply the hottest team in the NFL right now. They’ve won 9 straight games including victories against the Titans, San Diego, the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots. Even with their lofty 12 and 4 straight-up record the Colts weren’t exactly online NFL betting stars going 8-7-1 against the BetUS online betting spread.

Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for this game.

Indianapolis Colts – 1 – 110 – 120 O 51 – 110
San Diego Chargers + 1 – 110 Ev U 51 – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game.

The Indianapolis Colts are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 playoff games.
The Road team is 5 and 1 against the spread in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
The San Diego Chargers are 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games after an against the spread victory.
The San Diego Chargers are 11 and 4 against the spread in their last 15 games at home.

Okay, so do the Chargers have any shot of beating the Colts? Yes, they do, but in assessing the chances of each team in each one of these playoff games I try to find the single factor that should sway the game.

To me, it’s a big one. The Chargers have the offense to stay with the Colts since the Colts don’t have a terrific running game, but the Chargers’ defense has no chance of keeping it together against the Colts’ offense.

Even though San Diego can score, they can’t keep anybody from scoring. Tony Dungy will keep his defensive players in the Tampa 2, which he designed, and just hope to hold the Chargers to field goals while Peyton Manning and the Colts march down the field and score touchdowns.

That’s going to be the difference in this game. The Chargers can’t play defense while the Colts can.

I’m not saying that the Chargers don’t put up between 20 to 28 points. I’m just saying that the Colts are going to put up more.

Colts vs. Chargers Wildcard Prediction:

I like the Colts to win this game against the spread at – 1 in the BetUS online sportsbook. I also believe that this game has a good chance of going over 51 because the Colts should put up at least five touchdowns.
