AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Preview

The PGA Tour continues their run through California on the golf betting schedule this week with the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am at famous Pebble Beach.

Last week the PGA Tour made a stop at Torrey Pines, where Nick Watney put together a solid final round to steal the Buick Invitational title away from John Rollins. Watney shot four-under in the final round to finish at 11-under, one stroke ahead of Rollins. That was Watney’s second career win on the PGA Tour and he’ll go for a third this week at Pebble Beach as a +2800 underdog on the golf odds.

Watney may be a big underdog, but his odds are nothing compared to the defending champ of this week’s event. Steve Lowery won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am last season after topping Vijay Singh in a playoff. Despite that win Lowery is a huge +10000 longshot on the golf odds this week. If Lowery can somehow catch lightning in a bottle again this week he would pay out plenty.

While Lowey wallows in the low odds the co-favorites on the golf odds are two former winners of this event, Singh and Phil Mickelson at +1200. Singh won in 2004 and will be making his return from nearly a month off after knee surgery. Mickelson is a three-time winner of this event having won previously in 2007, 2005, and 1998. To add a fourth title this week Mickelson will need to find his game again after missing the cut in the FBR Open two weeks ago and finishing well back in 42nd place last week at the Buick.

Rounding out the Top 5 on the golf odds are Padraig Harrington at +1400, Jim Furyk at +1500, and Mike Weir at +1600. Harrington made his PGA season debut last week at the Buick and ended up tied for 24th, while Weir hasn’t played since missing the cut at the FBR. Furyk decided to skip the first five events of the season and will be playing for the first time this year at Pebble Beach.

Aside from Lowery, Singh, and Mickelson the only other former winner returning to Pebble Beach this weekend is Davis Love III. Love III is a multiple winner of this event, having won in 2001 and 2003, and he’ll go for a third as a +2500 underdog.
