Golf Betting – Weekley goes for three-peat at Harbour Town

Now that golf betting players are done with The Masters, they can move on to this week’s event, the Verizon Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. Harbour Town is known as one of the best courses in the country and a ball-striker’s paradise, so it’s no surprise that Boo Weekley has won this event two years running. However, it won’t be easy with a strong field chasing him.

Weekley isn’t even the favorite with PGA odds of +2800, and that’s because Boo has struggled this year. After starting the year with three straight top-20s, Weekley hasn’t finished higher than 52nd, and he missed the cut at The Masters. Weekley is one of the best ball-strikers on the PGA tour, but needs a spark to the season, and there’s no better place for him than Harbour Town.

Jim Furyk is the sportsbook favorite at +1400, and the veteran finished solo tenth at the Masters. Furyk’s strange swing has landed him 14th on the Tour in driving accuracy, and finding the fairway off the tee is key at Harbour Town, as it’s difficult to land on its small greens from the rough.

Camilo Villegas is next with golf betting odds of +1600, and he finished a solid 13th at The Masters last week. Villegas came in seventh at Harbour Town last year, and he tops the Tour in greens-in-regulation, which is a great stat to carry into this tight golf course.

Rory McIlroy finished 20th at The Masters. He’s now finished in the top 20 in his first five events, and all five tournaments have had great fields. The 19-year-old is proving that all the hype over him is well-deserved, and he’s another player whose game matches up well at Harbour Town. He’ll have PGA odds of +2000 this week.

Two more former winners are in the field this week, as Aaron Baddeley is rated at +2500, and Stewart Cink is listed at +3300. Baddeley won here in 2006, and he finished 17th at The Masters after struggling this season, especially off the tee where he is 181st in driving accuracy. Cink missed the weekend at Augusta and hasn’t finished higher than 30th in his last four events.

Weekley won’t three-peat this week, but he will show signs of getting his game back in shape. McIlroy will be in contention, and rack up a top-10. However, this will come down to a Sunday showdown between Villegas and Furyk, and Villegas is hitting greens like it’s going out of style right now.
