Winnipeg Jets vs. Anaheim Ducks NHL Gambling Prediction & Lines

Jets vs Ducks Hockey Betting?

The Anaheim Ducks return home after a three game road trip on the heels of an dominant 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks to face a Winnipeg Jets team that is coming to grips with the realization that everyone on the roster is playing for a roster spot next year rather than a desired playoff spot this year.

Ducks Look To Finish Strong – Host Woeful Jets Monday Night

The Jets have lost 10 of their last 13 games to plummet out of the playoff picture while the Ducks who had been struggling at this time last week have gained points in their last four games and have regained top spot in the Pacific Division. The teams have split their two games so far this season but only one team has something to play for down the stretch.

The Winnipeg Jets look as though they have thrown in the towel – nothing has gone right for this team lately – at home and on the road. The Jets are nine points back of a Western Conference Wild Card spot with seven games to play and have fallen victim lately to a serious lack of defense and goaltending lately.

Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec, who allowed the three goals on 16 shots last time out is a miserable 0-3-2 with a 4.21 GAA in his past six starts – struggling as the season comes to a close. It hasn’t been announced who will start Monday for Winnipeg but it looks as though either Al Montoya or Michael Hutchison who was called up from the minors could get the start.

The Jets have a few offensive players that are certainly doing their parts – Blake Wheeler has seven points (three goals, four assists) in his past five games and has 12 points in eight games while Bryan Little is on a five-game point streak with two goals and four assists, Tobias Enstrom has eight points in eight games and Michael Frolik has two points in two games.

The Anaheim Ducks have eight games left in the regular season and after a bit of a hiccup last week, they look as though they are ramping up for a long playoff run. First place in the West and President’s Trophy are certainly in reach after a recent string of good play. The Ducks play five of their last eight games at home where they are 25-7-4.

Offensively Anaheim continues to be among the best teams in the game – 3.20 goals per game. The top dogs have stepped up their game as of late – Corey Perry has 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in his past 12 games, Ryan Getzlaf has seven points in his past five games, Matthew Perrault is on an eight game point streak, Patrick Maroon has six points in four game, Sami Vatanen has five points on a four-game streak, Teemu Selanne has four points in four games, Andrew Cogliano has three points in three games and on and on and on. Simply put the Ducks are deep, they are talented and they are an absolute nightmare for any team to match up with.

Like the Jets, the starting goaltender for Anaheim has yet to be named. Jonas Hiller hasn’t been great lately – 3-2-2 in his last seven starts with a 3.17 GAA and .887 save percentage. He is just 0-2-1 with a 3.46 goals-against average in his last three starts against Winnipeg. Frederik Andersen got the win Saturday against Vancouver and could get another start. He is 17-5-0 on the season and played well against Winnipeg in relief of Hiller earlier this year.

A few trends to consider:
• WIN are 3-10 in their last 13 overall.
• Under is 9-4 in WIN last 13 road games.
• Under is 7-2-1 in ANA last 10 Mon. games.
• ANA are 41-17 in their last 58 Mon. games.
• ANA are 43-20 in their last 63 home games.

The Anaheim Ducks have gotten their mojo back and clearly have their eyes squarely fixed on top spot in the NHL standings – it is hard to imagine their focus waning as we head into the final two weeks of the season. The Jets are just 16-18-3 on the road this year while Anaheim is a very good 25-7-4 at home. This game is a mismatch and although I don’t necessarily love the price, I do love the home team to post a relatively easy win.

Pick: Anaheim Ducks -205
