Crosby was in on each of the Penguins’ three goals in the game, recording a goal and two assists, while linemate Chris Kunitz notched a pair of goals, and Lee Stempniak added a pair of helpers.

Crosby’s point total climbed to 87 in the win, tops in the NHL. He now has six points in three meetings with Washington this season and 14 points in the last six meetings.. In his career, Captain Canada has recorded 24 goals and 62 points in 35 career games against Washington.

Both teams were able to score on the power play on Monday, with Pittsburgh going 1-for-3 with the mad advantage, and Washington going 1-for-4 when up a man. The teams brought the top two power play units to the ice in Monday’s tilt, and that could be a source of offense for both sides on Tuesday as well.
The Capitals have now lost four of their last five games and need to get back to into the win column sooner rather than later as their playoff hopes slip away. The team is now one point back of Columbus and Detroit for the final playoff spot in the East.
The Penguins come at a high price in this one, but their recent domination of this series is too much to ignore. On top of that, goals should be easy to come by with the Capitals posting a team GAA of 3.75 in their last four road games, and an identical 3.75 GAA in their last four trips to Pittsburgh.
