Betting Hockey Online – Tuesday Power Play

Tuesday’s 13-game NHL wagering card is stacked full of great matchups, waiting to stuff your stocking with puck bucks, as we head into the Christmas break. With no hockey until Friday after Tuesday’s action, let’s make this evening’s slate a profitable one with a money-making online NHL betting selection.

Boston (24-5-4) at New Jersey (19-9-3)

The Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins look for its first six-game winning streak this season when they visit New Jersey to play the red hot Devils, who’s melting the ice despite playing without future Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur. The Vezina Trophy winning Brodeur had elbow surgery that will have him out at least through January after going down with the injury early in November.

When he went down many believed so did New Jersey’s chances of contending in the competitive Atlantic Division. Even Devils’ investors who placed NHL future wagers in support of their club winning the division began shredding their tickets. But Brodeur’s backup Scott Clemmensen has done a dazzling job in net and has Devils supporters piecing them shredded tickets back together.

Clemmensen improved to 11-3-1 on the season with a 3-2 SO victory over rival Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, as New Jersey is now a bankroll building 12-2-1 in its last 15 games. Clemmensen made 27 saves in regulation and overtime combined, then came up big with back-to-back-to-back saves in the SO. Sunday was the fourth straight time he started in goal and the 12th in the past 13 games. The Devils improved to 19-9-3 and moved to within two points of the second-place Flyers in the Atlantic, and five behind the division-leading New York Rangers.

Tuesday Free NHL Picks (Dec 23)

New Jersey owns a modest three-game winning streak generated by an offensive flurry, scoring a robust 13 goals during span led by Patrik Elias. The left wing is riding a 10-game point streak during which he has eight goals and nine assists. Elias’ blistering play has him second on the team in goals (16), assists (21) and points (37) behind leader Zach Parise, who leads the Devils in all three categories.

Boston’s right wing Phil Kessel is riding an even hotter streak, scoring a point or more in 18 straight games, racking up 14 goals and 14 assists during the scorching run. Kessel’s explosion has set ablaze a Bruins offense, which has scored 29 goals during its five-game winning streak. Since November 1, Boston has averaged 4.2 goals per game, going 19-2-1.

Also on Sunday, East-leading Bruins beat the Blues 6-3 for first time since Jan. 30, 2001 as the fifth victory of the winning streak. Boston is 24-5-4 overall, their best 33-game start since 1929-30.

Analysis: If you bet on NHL play, this will be a great sports betting event featuring two of the hottest teams on the ice. It’s a contest between New Jersey’s rock-solid net keep versus Boston’s big bad offense. In recent action, puck heads wagering on New Jersey when these two meet have become accustom to counting cash. The Devils are 5-1 in the last six meetings on home ice and 4-1 overall versus the Bruins. As well, the home team has a 4-1 edge in the last five series matchups. BetUS NHL odds list both teams at -110 with a game total of 5½ -115.

Free NHL Picks: New Jersey -110

Also on Tuesday’s slate, the San Jose Sharks (26-4-3) will try to stay perfect at home during regulation against the Vancouver Canucks (19-12-3). The Sharks are a remarkable 17-0-2 at The Tank and have won the last four overall meetings versus Vancouver. Until Friday, Merry Christmas puck heads and good luck!
