Is there a tougher “out” in hockey than the Dallas Stars? They have an amazing 11 overtime losses this season; when they lose, they barely lose. At least, that’s been the case most of the season. The Stars have been outscored 7-1 over two losses to start 2010. Their well-distributed scoring has suddenly dried up and Marty Turco may be starting his annual slump between the pipes.
The Rangers are 6-2-2 in their past 10 and their comeback win over Boston Monday night was especially encouraging.
They didn’t need Marian Gaborik to win for a change; he was held scoreless but slumping forwards Ales Kotalik, Erik Christensen and Christopher Higgins all scored in the win.
Even a slight spike in offense could do wonders for the Rangers since goalie Henrik Lundqvist only needs a little help to lead his team to victory; he’s allowed two or fewer goals in 12 of his last 15 starts.
I like the hotter team and the home team tonight. Pick the Broadway Blueshirts and remember the Sean Avery factor; he’ll be motivated to beat the team that sent him back to New York.
