Fresh off an impressive 6-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings, the Canucks have now won six straight and seven of their last 10. They currently rank 5th in goals per game (3.08) and are 6th in goals against (2.31).
The Canucks have gotten their usual production from the Sedin twins who both have 16 points in their 13 games played this season. Secondary scoring has been up to par as well – Manny Malhotra and Alex Edler each have 10 points, Raffi Torres has nine, and there are three Canucks with eight points. Vancouver, for once is a balanced team.
The Montreal Canadiens have hit the skids. After winning four straight games, they have lost three of their last four games. Goal scoring has been the issue – sound familiar? Montreal has scored just five goals in their last three games and their Studs have been virtually invisible.
It has been the fourth line that has done the damage for the Canadiens so far. Mathieu Darche, Jeff Halpern and Benoit Pouliot have accounted for nearly a third of Montreal’s goals so far this season while Brian Gionta has two goals and Scott Gomez has just one.
Betting Prediction: The Vancouver Canucks have the scoring, the defense and the goaltending to carry them to the Stanley Cup this season. Everyone is contributing at the moment. Vancouver should be amped to start their road trip in the Hockey Mecca Montreal. With the recent struggles of the Canadiens, I can’t see Montreal slowing the red hot Canucks down.
