The Kings have been struggling to score goals as of late but are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games while the Flyers are 8-1-1 in their last 10 and have won five in a row ahead of Monday’s showdown – two coming against the Penguins late last week. This will be the second and final meeting between the teams – the Flyers defeated LA 2-0- February 1 in the Kings’ home building.
Surprise, Surprise – the LA Kings have had a difficult time scoring goals minus a four goal explosion last time out – they have been leaning on defense and goaltending. But that’s OK when you have Jonathan Quick between the pipes. Jonathan Quick has been terrific – 2-0-0 with a 0.48 GAA and .987 save percentage in his last two starts – both wins for the Kings.

The Kings have something to prove Monday night and the scorching Flyers are a good measuring stick for where this team is at. There are three former prominent Flyers playing for the Kings – Jeff Carter, Mike Richards and Wayne Simmonds would all love to have a good game against their former mates.
Marion Gaborik has been OK offensively since coming on to the scene – he has four points in his last five games. There are a number of Kings struggling heading into Monday – Carter has two points in his last six games and Drew Doughty, Justin Williams and Dustin Brown (if he plays) each have just one point in their last four games. It is clear that this team will lean heavily upon Mr. Quick again.

The Philadelphia Flyers have been playing some good hockey – 12-2-1 in their last 15 games with two wins over Pittsburgh and a dominating win over a very good club last time out – 4-1 against the Blues.
Wayne Simmonds has five goals and two assists in four games, Scott Hartnell has five points in three games, Jakub Voracek has three points in two games and Vincent Levacalier has two points in two games. Claude Giroux has points in six straight games, totaling one goal and nine assists. He has six multiple point games since the Olympic break! To say the Flyers are clicking offensively is an understatement.
Things are going well for the Flyers offensively for sure but goaltending may be the bigger story ahead of this game for Philadelphia. Steve Mason is 10-2-1 with a 2.28 goals-against average in his last 13 games – 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .956 save percentage in his last two.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be looking to avoid a third straight home loss to the Kings on Monday night and I think they get it done. The Flyers are absolutely firing in both ends of the rink right now – they have beaten some terrific teams the last couple of weeks and should again Monday.
