The Nashville Predators successfully fended off elimination on Saturday night and now move their series with the Vancouver Canucks back home where they lest the first two games of the series. Nashville has crept back in the series but one thing is still evident – the Canucks are a superior team.

The Canucks fortunes changed in an instant in Game 5 – if not for the flukiest goal that I’ve seen in a while, the Preds would have likely remained lifeless throughout. Vancouver just needs to stay the course and hopefully get a little production from the Sedins who were held pointless and who were a combined minus seven in Game 5 – ouch!

Ryan Kesler simply won’t be denied at the moment. He and his line mates have clearly been the best unit on the ice (except of course uber-star Joel Ward!!!). Kelser could win the series by himself but Game 6 reeks of a Sedin resurrection. Despite the horrid numbers, the Sedins have been playing better and are long overdue for a breakout game.

Vancouver was guilty of a few uncharacteristic gaffes in Game 5 – something that I don’t expect to happen again. Their problems are obvious and they are easy to fix. Roberto Luongo has been terrific – a 2.35 goals against average and a .914 save percentage in the playoffs.

The Nashville Predators may have just used up their final playoff life. Despite being totally outclassed for the better part of half of Game 5, the team rode a fluky goal and resulting momentum to victory. Did they play amazing – No! Did they do just barely enough to win – Yes!

The Predators have the second hottest and second most confident player in the playoffs – Joel Ward who has torched the Vancouver Canucks to the tune of five goals and nine points in the series. David Legwand has woken up as well and has three points in two games and there was even a Mike Fisher sighting in Game 5. Patrick Hornqvist and Sergei Kostitsyn have been brutal – zero points in the last six games for each.

Pekka Rinne was the difference maker in Game 5 and now has a tidy 2.61 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in the playoffs. She Weber has a bad Game 5 defensively and his offensive contributions have gone cold. Expect Weber to be at his best on Monday – he knows that he has to be better!

NHL Betting Trends:
VAN are 26-9 in their last 35 road games.
Under is 14-5-3 in VAN last 22 overall.
Under is 13-5-2 in VAN last 20 vs. Central.
Over is 8-1-2 in NAS last 11 home games.
Over is 7-2-2 in NAS last 11 overall.
Under is 13-4-3 in NAS last 20 vs. Northwest.
VAN are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Nashville.
Under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.

Betting Prediction: The thought of the Nashville Predators beating the Vancouver Canucks two times in a row seems like a reach but the Preds may have found a formula to beat them. Na! Uncharacteristic mistakes and bad breaks cost the Canucks in Game 5 – there likely won’t be another perfect storm for the Preds on Monday!
