Derick Brassard came through for the Rangers in a big way in Game 5, netting a pair of goals and a helper, including scoring the eventual game-winner in the first period. Chris Kreider and Ryan McDonagh each added a goal and an assist, while star forward Rick Nash added an assist for his first point of the series.

The game was surely the worst nightmare for Penguins fans, as goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury was back to his leaky ways. He let 30 of 34 shots get by him for a save percentage of just .882.

At the other end of the ice, Henrik Lundqvist was as good as he’s been all season. The Swede continues to step up his game on the biggest stage. He stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced in Game 5 to lead the Rangers to a victory.

The Rangers now need to figure out a way to win games on their home ice after dropping each of the first two games at Madison Square Garden in this series. The team will need to harness the desperation they showed in Game 5, when they came out with a bang and fired 17 shots on goal in the opening period.

Even after the Penguins scored their opening marker to cut the Rangers’ lead to 2-1, New York answered right back with a pair of goals that came just 50 seconds apart.

It appears the switch has finally flipped to on for the Rangers. They are the better team in this series as they play against a flawed Penguins team. The team proved that they can play with their backs against the wall in a hostile environment in Game 5, and doing so again on their home ice should be an easier feat.

Additionally, it’s tough to have any level of faith in Marc-Andre Fleury. While a solid effort from Henrik Lundqvist at the other end can be expected, the Penguins’ goaltender instills no confidence whatsoever in the postseason, and the Rangers finally appear poised to challenge him.

The Penguins are 3-8 in their last 11 games after a home loss of three or more goals, while the Rangers are 27-11 in their last 38 games played on a Sunday.

The over is 12-3-1 in the last 16 meetings between these teams in New York, and 4-1 in the Penguins’ last five road games.

The play: New York -111, Over 5
