I am beginning to think that the MVP’s of this series are referees. Unfortunately for the NHL Betting fan, there is a serious lack of flow in these games – too many shorthanded situations and not enough 5 on five time – Come on refs! Let the boys play! But I digress.
The San Jose Sharks will be looking to stay alive on Tuesday night when they travel to Vancouver where they have already lost twice in the postseason. They are coming off a 4-3 loss in a game in which they surrendered a total of 13 shots on goal – 13!
Unfortunately for San Jose, Joe Thornton, despite vowing to play is likely not 100% and without him, the Sharks are cooked! Dany Heatley, Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski have been brutal – they’ve combined for only 3 assists in the series so far.
San Jose’s goaltending cannot be blamed for any of the losses so far in the series but it hasn’t stolen any game so far. Antti Niemi has to be a whole lot better or the Sharks are in some trouble.
The Vancouver Canucks proved that their killer instinct on the power play was back. After losing Game 3 because of missed opportunities the Power Play (the best in the NHL during the Regular Season) came alive and did all of the damage. Henrik Sedin has an incredible 10 points on the series, the defense is looking lethal in the offensive as well as in their own zone and the Canucks are still effectively rolling all of their lines – they look damn good! A shout out to the Penalty Killers as well.
It’s hard to believe that Luongo hasn’t been a major topic of discussion. He has been solid and hopeful by now has won over all of his doubters.

They’re 2-4 in potential closeout games this postseason and 0-2 in Game 5s. They are just 3-9 in their last 12 Game 5s! Canucks fans are all too familiar.
Look, I am as tempted by San Jose -175 as you are but consider that Vancouver has not had their best game yet. Other than discipline, everything seems to be clicking for the Vancouver Canucks. Once they clean up the stupid penalties the Sharks will be outclassed. My bet is that the Sharks lose their composure before Vancouver does on Tuesday night.
