They have led 3-0 in all four series’ they have played in and they appear to have sapped the hearts out of a resilient New Jersey Devils team.

The New Jersey Devils have their backs against the wall (colossal understatement).

Only the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs have come back from 3-0 down in the Cup final to prevail.

One need not look further than their lack of goal scoring in the Final to see why the hole that they have dug is essentially insurmountable. New Jersey has scored just twice in three games thus far and they generated just 21 shots on goal for the second game in a row.

Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise are pointless in the series and the fourth line that had carried them through the first three rounds has basically disappeared.

Coach Peter DeBeor has vowed lineup changes for Game 4 – Peter Sykora may see action in an effort to boost New Jersey’s anemic offense.  [ad-4437448]

What can we say about the Kings? They have been masterful in the playoffs and in Game 3 they may have played their best game by putting together a solid offensive and defensive show for their home town fans.

Anze Kopitar continues to lead the way offensively with seven goals and seven assists in the playoffs and goaltender Jonathan Quick remains the leading candidate for the Conn Smythe.

Quick’s playoff numbers deserve some attention. He is 15-2 in the playoffs with a 1.36 goals against average. So far in the postseason he has a .950 save percentage – in the Cup Final that percentage stands at an incredible .974.

Nothing has gotten by this kid and it is hard to imagine anything getting by him the rest of the way.

Betting Prediction: The Kings are so obviously the better team that a bet on the Devils almost seems ridiculous. Any confidence that New Jersey has is gone and any optimism was squashed on Monday night.

When Martin Brodeur looks beaten then you know the team is feeling the same way. The season ends Wednesday!

Pick: Los Angeles Kings -182 and the Under 4 ½ goals.
