Wild Look to Even it Up – Host Avalanche in Pivotal Game 4 Thursday Night
The Minnesota Wild look to carry the momentum gained off a 1-0 overtime win in Game 3 when they try to hold serve and even their series with the Colorado Avalanche. The Wild looked good throughout Game 3 – they were clearly the better team.

Now they get to face an Avs club that lost Tyson Barrie for four to six weeks thanks to a knee-on-knee hit by Matt Cooke. A little spice has been thrown into the first round series – Thursday night should be an interesting affair.
The Colorado Avalanche are sayin all the right things regarding Matt Cooke`s hit on Barrie. To a man the Avs know that the best revenge is to soundly beat the Wild – something they didn`t come close to doing in Game 3.

The Avalanche were outshot 44-20 in Game 3 and their power play is 1-for-11 so far in the series – not exactly numbers that you win with. But the Avalanche are still a talented bunch and should be better Thursday night.

Another positive for the Avalanche is the play of Seymon Varlamov. After struggling the first game he has put together two nice outings including a 45 save effort in a loss in Game 3.
As mentioned, the Wild played a complete 60 minutes+ in Game 3 – they controlled throughout and let their rookie keeper earn a little confidence with a 22 save shutout. Minnesota has to feel pretty good going into Game 4.
Mikael Granlund is the story of Game 3 – some unexpected brilliance for a Wild team that needed a spark. Granlund was terrific offensively in scoring the winner and he was also very good in a defensive roll against the Avs potent lineup.

A few trends to consider:
• COL are 10-1 in their last 11 Thu. games.
• COL are 12-3 in their last 15 vs. Central.
• COL are 10-4 in their last 14 overall.
• Over is 5-1-2 in MIN last 8 games following a win.
• MIN are 3-7 in their last 10 vs. Central.
Something tells me the Colorado Avalanche are in a little bit of trouble here. The injury and loss of Tyson Barrie coupled with the fact that Matt Duchene is still out with a knee injury scares me a little bit. My guess is that it takes a couple of periods to adjust to another Stud out of the lineup.
Pick: Minnesota Wild -135
