NFL Week Three Wagering Review – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Okay members of the BetUS NFL online sports wagering community, another thrilling week of NFL football has been completed and the overall wagering picture for each team is becoming clearer by the minute.

Here is a brief review of all the Week 3 happenings across the NFL as well as a quick peek into what BetUS NFL wagering can expect heading into Week 4.

Atlanta 38 Kansas City 14

I told bettors last week that the Chiefs are a really good team – to bet against! I’m calling all NFL bettors to wager against the Chiefs when the situation calls for it. On the other side of the fence, all I can say is that the Atlanta Falcons have struck gold not one, but twice this offseason in drafting rookie quarterback Matt Ryan and acquiring running back Michael Turner.

Tampa Bay 27 Chicago 24

The Buccaneers, despite their shortcomings, may be headed toward another playoff appearance while the Bears are still missing something from their Super Bowl team of two seasons ago and look like they’re going to miss out on the playoffs again this season.

Minnesota 20 Carolina 10

The Vikings picked up an absolutely huge win they had to have and looked much better with Gus Frerotte at the helm than they have under former starter Tavaris Jackson. The Panthers blew a golden opportunity to move to 3-0, but still have a strong enough defense to keep them in almost every game for the remainder of the regular season.

Giants 26 Bengals 23

Giants quarterback Eli Manning is clearly getting better – and more confident – with each passing contest. New York will definitely be a factor in the NFC postseason this season while the Bengals are clearly lacking something from the explosive offense they’ve put on the field the last few seasons.

Broncos 34 Saints 32

The Broncos have the best offense in the league under blossoming quarterback and look like a lock to go ‘Over’ the spread almost every week. I think the Saints will still be a factor in the NFC postseason race, but the team’s defense, much like Denver’s is clearly lacking and could come back to haunt them down the stretch.

Seahawks 37 Rams 13

While I’m still not sure what to make of the perplexing Seahawks, I can unequivocally say that the St. Louis Rams are absolutely pitiful! Much like their in-state counterparts, the Chiefs, I say bet against the Rams whenever the point spread looks right.

Eagles 15 Steelers 6

The Eagles are clearly a Super Bowl caliber team and could win the whole ‘shebang’ if their defense plays like it did in this contest against the Steelers, another team that, despite their loss in this contest, are also a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the AFC.

Jaguars 23 Colts 21

The Jaguars picked up a huge win and with one of the game’s best defensive units, remain one of the top contenders to reach the Super Bowl in the AFC despite their sluggish start. I’m also expecting the Indianapolis Colts to beginning hitting their collective stride this upcoming week after getting off to a sluggish start of their own.

49ers 31 Lions 13

The 49ers spanked the Rams with their new and improved offense and have the look of a team that feels like they can post a winning record at the very least. The Lions are absolutely abysmal and will likely go ‘Over’ their posted O/U totals for the majority of their remaining games with their atrocious defense.

Redskins 24 Cardinals 17

Both of these teams are in similar boat as near-playoff caliber teams that could go in one of two directions, largely depending on their respective defensive units. Keep a close eye on both clubs, but remember, each team can score the ball and have marginal defenses at best.

Dolphins 38 Patriots 13

I told BetUS NFL bettors that the Dolphins would cover the spread in this contest and they did me one better in winning outright. Miami exposed a lot of New England’s flaws and I expect a lot of head coaches to look at what Miami did to the Patriots and try to duplicate that stunning success. After years of being on top, the Patriots, I’m thinking New England is going to start getting a taste of their own medicine this season. Looks like all their cheating is going to come back to bite them big time this season.

Titans 31 Texans 12

I called this game dead-on for NFL bettors and I kept telling football enthusiasts everywhere that the Titans were going to be a better offensive team with Kerry Collins at the helm than they ever were under Michael Vick. The Titans are headed for another playoff appearance and possibly more while the Texans need to make a switch at quarterback and go with Sage Rosenfelds over the struggling Matt Schaub.

Bills 24 Raiders 23

The Bills are legitimate NFL bettors, though I’m not sure they are in the same class as some of the other elite AFC teams. However, at this point, I have to say they’re looking pretty good on both sides of the ball and look like they’re going to cover the spread far more often than not this season. The Raiders also look like they’re playing very hard each time out for lame-duck head coach Lane Kiffin, but clearly need more experience.

Cowboys 27 Packers 16

The Dallas Cowboys are my pick to reach the Super Bowl in the NFC this season and have shown me absolutely nothing to indicate otherwise. The Packers are still a legitimate NFC championship contender and should improve as quarterback Aaron Rodgers continues his maturation process.
