Well, if the Giants were trying to send some kind of a message in the Monday night game against the Washington Redskins, they did a pretty good job of it. The Giants had a 24-0 lead at the half, took advantage of Jason Campbell’s mistakes, floored him a number of times, and cruised home with a 45-12 victory in their pocket, easily covering the game in the NFL betting lines.

Ahmad Bradshaw had 61 yards on nine carries and two touchdown, and had 29 more yards in receptions. What he’s been able to do, with a broken bone in his foot and TWO sprained ankles, has really been incredible. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Now the Giants, who are still in desperate straits as far as their playoff chances are concerned, find themselves in the role of sizable favorites at home against a Carolina Panthers team that showed it still had some growl left in it with a 26-7 win over Minnesota last Sunday night, sending Brett Favre into some “heated” conversations with coach Brad Childress. The defense made a real effort, holding Minnesota to ten first downs and just one third down conversion in ten chances, while the offense showed a high level of efficiency, converting eight of 17 on third down, getting 109 rushing yards out of Jonathan Stewart and 299 yard and three TD’s out of quarterback Matt Moore, who reinforced that he is the guy who can get the ball downfield better than Jake Delhomme.

Whether Carolina can put together back-to-back performances like that is a legitimate question, but maybe the same can be asked of the Giants, who lack consistency for certain. What they may have to do is get the rushing game going against a Panther defensive front that can be penetrated, although apparently not by Adrian Peterson, who had 35 yards last week. Meanwhile, Carolina may or may not have DeAngelo Williams, who is nursing a sprained ankle and would have to be classified as questionable.

This Giant team has covered just two of its last nine games as a favorite in NFL betting lines, and one of its last five at home, so this is clearly not the ideal position for them to be in. Matt Moore has thrown only one interception in three starts and has covered every one of the six games he has started in a Panther uniform.

In a game where the battle between Steve Smiths is intriguing (Carolina’s guy had 1567 yards last week; the Giants’ guy has 1093 for the season), we will take the points with Carolina, the seven-point underdog in the BetUS NFL betting lines.
