Despite both teams having the same record, they are headed in different directions. The Eagles lost 20-16 with a Tony Romo’s 49-yard touchdown pass to Miles Austin last week; meanwhile Phillip Rivers led a late rally to hammer the NY Giants 21-20 in the final moments of the game.
“I think it will carry over into this week, something we can build on as we prepare for another really tough NFC East opponent,” said Rivers.
It was the fourth time in the last 13 games, including a playoff win over Indianapolis, that Rivers produced a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. “He’s calm and confident and that just rubs off on everyone else,” said WR Vincent Jackson.
NFL Betting Tip: the Eagles have lost all four visits to San Diego since winning their initial trip in 1974.
NFL betting fans should keep in mind the Eagles is the second in the league for interceptions so far this season with 15, they have a strong D with a lot of playmakers, you can expect Asante Samuel to be Vincent Jackson’s shadow all game.
On the other side the Eagles offense needs to play mistake free football. “We have to eliminate mistakes,” said Donovan McNabb, who had two interceptions last week. “We have to have short-term memory and just move on and be able to erase what happened.”
McNabb without a doubt will look for DeSean Jackson down the field. Jackson has the ability to turn a short gain into a long one and will draw some double coverage leaving rookie WR Jeremy and TE Brent Celek open for short passes.
Consider these NFL betting trends: San Diego is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games and Philadelphia is 11-5 ATS in its last 16 games. Also if you bet the game total: keep in mind it has gone OVER in 7 of Philadelphia’s last 9 games.
My pick: the Eagles. Over.
