Week 6 Power Rankings
Week 6 Power Rankings | ||||
This Week | Last Week | Record | Comment | |
1 | 1 | New York Giants | 5–0 | What the Giants did to the Raiders would get you 5 to 10 in Attica if it was done on the street; New Orleans is next |
2 | 2 | New Orleans | 4–0 | Some fear that the bye week could stall Saints’ memontum |
3 | 3 | Indianapolis | 5–0 | Division already locked up, 5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS . . . Isn’t this how the 2007 Patriots started? |
4 | 5 | Minnesota | 5–0 | Three telling weeks on hosizon: Baltimore, at Pittsburgh and then Favre Bowl II at Green Bay |
5 | 6 | Denver | 5–0 | Are we seeing the new Belichick developing right before our eyes? |
6 | 11 | Cincinnati | 4–1 | Something’s happening here, and what it is ain’t exactly clear |
7 | 4 | New England | 3–2 | Second time this season Belichick has been outcoached in 2nd half |
8 | 7 | Baltimore | 3–2 | So…was it the refs again? |
9 | 8 | New York Jets | 3–2 | Rex Ryan sounded almost humble in comments after Miami loss. What gives? |
10 | 10 | Chicago | 3–1 | Next 5 road games — (Atlanta, Cincinnati, San Francisco, Minnesota and Baltimore. Ouch. |
11 | 9 | San Francisco | 3–2 | OK, we understand now that Shaun Hill is not Peyton Manning |
12 | 12 | Pittsburgh | 3–2 | There are 455 bridges in Pittsburgh. If Pittsburgh had lost to the Lions, Steeler fans today would be lining up to jump off them |
13 | 13 | Atlanta | 3–1 | OK, so maybe the Falcons aren’t that soft. Bye week gave them a chance to shake off that bad loss in New England |
14 | 14 | Philadelphia | 3–1 | Under Reid, Eagles have never lost (11-0) after a bye week |
15 | 17 | Dallas | 3–2 | Bye this week; good time for Romo to find another starlet and head to Cancun |
16 | 15 | San Diego | 2–2 | If the Chargers ever needed to grow a pair, it’s this week at home against Denver. |
17 | 16 | Green Bay | 2–2 | Packers always say they want to run the ball, but they feel more comfortable with Aaron Rodgers throwing it |
18 | 20 | Miami | 2–3 | Victory over Jets was big lift heading into bye week |
19 | 18 | Arizona | 2–2 | Goal line stand against the Texans may have saved the season |
20 | 19 | Houston | 2–3 | Kubiak frustrated by Texans’ inability to run the ball |
21 | 21 | Jacksonville | 2–3 | Tough to win when your top two runners net only 37 yards on 14 carries |
22 | 25 | Seattle | 2–3 | That, Seneca, is why you’re the backup and Hasselbeck is the starter. Play Zona in Week 6. Watch out! |
23 | 27 | Carolina | 1–3 | Lots of playmakers on this team, but few plays being made |
24 | 22 | Washington | 2–3 | Redskins’ parade of games against winless teams continues next week vs. Chiefs |
25 | 23 | Buffalo | 1–4 | Cleveland has won two games in the last 11 calendar months. Guess which team they beat both times. |
26 | 24 | Tennessee | 0–5 | 0-4 ATS since the loss to Pittsburgh on opening day |
27 | 28 | Detroit | 1–4 | Lions can score, but defense is still a huge problem |
28 | 29 | Kansas City | 0–5 | When these guys mature, they’ll figure out a way to win the games they’re now losing |
29 | 26 | Oakland | 1–4 | After coaching this outfit, hard time would be a piece of cake for Tom Cable |
30 | 30 | Cleveland | 1–4 | Mangini bashers get the week off |
31 | 31 | Tampa Bay | 0–5 | Herm Edwards says you play to win the game; now for an opposing view . . . |
32 | 32 | St. Louis | 0–5 | Must be interesting in practice when Rams offense goes up against Rams defense |

I have my top 5 at:
New York Giants
Indianapolis Colts
Minnesota
New Orleans
Denver
Giants at the Saint outcome should decide the best team in the NFC for now. The Colts have a bye so they will remain on top in the AFC
