Week 6 NFL Betting: 5 Games’ Football Odds You Have To Bet On

NFL Week 6 “Insider Betting”

Here we are at week 6 of the NFL season already. It’s still a bit too early to be calling anyone an outright Super Bowl favourite, but there is certainly a level of clarity as to who the contenders and pretenders are in the NFL.

Thursday night football provided us with the first really good mid-week game of the season as the Colts triumphed on the road 33-28 over the Houston Texans, earning their fourth straight win and sole possession of first place in the AFC South.

Sunday features a load of divisional match ups and there are some that catch the eye and others that might be worth skimming past.

Let’s take a look at five games that I’m anxious to bet on for this week.

Carolina vs Cincinnati

Week 6 NFL Odds Bengals -6.5

The Bengals were beaten up badly on Sunday night by an angry New England Patriots team. It’s hard to say really whether this was a case of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick setting out to prove that they’re still relevant in the AFC, or that the Bengals are just that terrible when they play in prime time.

[dfads params=’groups=63753&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

This Bengals team is a good side, there’s no denying that, but their inability to win big games/playoff games is a rep that they seem unable to shake. On the other side, the Panthers got back into the win column after back to back losses to the Steelers and Ravens with a win over the Chicago Bears.

Cam Newton is starting to round in to form, albeit slowly and Carolina’s offense racked up 31 points on a pretty sad Bears team.

NFL Week 6 Pick: The Bengals are out of the spotlight this week and they play very well at home. Look for Cinci to bounce back this week and cover the spread against Carolina, who I still don’t really trust after seeing how bad they can be.

Dallas vs Seattle

Week 6 NFL Odds Seahawks -8

Here’s a game that is very intriguing to me. Each team has only lost one game (Cowboys 4-1, Seahawks 3-1), but everyone expected Seattle to be here and not many would’ve had the Cowboys at 4-1 after five weeks.

Dallas’ offense came back down to earth a bit last week in a narrow 20-17 OT win over Houston. Seattle’s offense wasn’t mind blowing either in their Monday night win over the Redskins. Where this one gets interesting is that spread at 8 points. Dallas does have the offense to hang a big number on anyone, but playing in Seattle is a nightmare for opposing QBs.

I don’t see any way for Dallas to run up more than 24 points on the Seahawks, but the real question is can the Seahawks pull away enough against a Dallas defense that has been a lot better than most anticipated. Dallas has allowed only 17 points in their last two games, and Seattle’s offense hasn’t eclipsed the 30 point mark since their week one win over Green Bay.

NFL Week 6 Pick: I’m leaning towards Dallas to keep this one closer than eight points. Seattle’s defense is so tough at home, but I think the Cowboys can do enough on offense to make this game respectable. I think Seattle wins, but not by the eight they’re being given, predicted score: 27-20 Seattle. Pick Dallas on the +8.

Chicago vs Atlanta

NFL Week 6 Odds Falcons -3

I’ve already written an in depth look at this game, which can be viewed here: http://www.capperspicks.com/blog/nfl/free-pick-bears-vs-falcons-betting-odds-handicapping-preview-week-6-91014/

I’ll keep this pretty brief, and if you’d like a more comprehensive look at this game it’s right there in the link.

This three point spread seems like a freebie unless I’m blatantly missing something. The Bears have been decent on the road, and their only two wins have come away from Soldier Field. That shouldn’t play a factor in this one though as the Falcons are coming off back to back losses themselves and are nearly unstoppable at home. The Bears flat out can’t stop anyone right now and I expect the Falcons offense to steamroll in this one.

NFL Week 6 Pick: Atlanta’s offense overwhelms the Bears who will likely keep it close for three quarters, but once the Bears D gets out of gas late, Atlanta will run away with it and I can see them winning by 10 or more. Pick the Falcons.

New England vs Buffalo

NFL Week 6 Odds Patriots -2.5

The Patriots silenced their critics with a big win over the Bengals last Sunday night and it would seem all is well for the time being. This game could set up as a bit of a trap game for the Pats who will be feeling good about themselves coming into a game against a division opponent.

The Bills meanwhile pulled off a pretty stunning upset of the Detroit Lions on the road last week, though the Lions were without star receiver Calvin Johnson.

New England has held a favourable edge in this match up for the last three years, winning five of their last six meetings. The Bills’ last win over the Pats came back in 2011 when they won on home field. The last time these teams clashed at Ralph Wilson Stadium the Pats won a tight one 23-21 and I expect this one to be much of the same. Buffalo plays New England tough and they’ve never had problems scoring points on them.

Week 6 NFL Pick: The Patriots are coming off a big win and I think they slip back into the team they are, which as far as I can tell is a pretty average one. The Bills pull off a “shocker” in this one and I’m actually picking them to win it outright. Take the Bills +2.5.

New York Giants vs Philadelphia

Week 6 NFL Odds Eagles -2.5

With most of the experts calling for the Cowboys to lose this week, this Sunday night tilt between NFC East rivals Philadelphia and New York holds big implications in the division.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The Giants have been rolling after an 0-2 start and have rattled off three consecutive wins. The Eagles held on for dear life late against the Rams last week after nearly squandering a 34-7 lead. These teams have split their season series at one win apiece for the last three seasons and the patterns are tough to ignore here. In 2011 the road team won both games, in 2012 the home team won both, and in 2013 the road team again won both games.

Where does that leave us? Well if you’re a stickler for history and patterns that would say this is the year for the home team to win both and to go with Philly. I think the Eagles are the better team in this one despite their battered O-line and less than spectacular secondary.

Week 6 NFL Pick: This is a statement game for the Eagles and I think they come out firing as pundits are still a bit unsure whether or not they can hang with legit competition (Indy is the only team with a winning record they have beaten). The Eagles will get up a few scores early in this one and I think the defense picks Eli Manning off a few times. Eagles win and cover.
