NFL Game Capsules Week 10

Week 10 in the NFL is in the books. The Weisguy takes over for Matt and offers up these recaps for your NFL viewing pleasure.

Oakland 24 – San Diego 17

The Raiders parlayed some big offensive performances (including Carson Palmer) into a victory to take control of the division.  The question about the Chargers is no longer what is wrong but whether coach Norv Turner will survive the season.

Jacksonville 17 – Indianapolis 3

The Colts may have squandered their last best chance at a win this season by losing at home to the Jags.  MJD leads the way with more than half of Jax’ offensive output.

New Orleans 26 – Atlanta 23

The Falcons have to be really disappointed about this one.  They could have closed the gap with the Saints with a win but lost despite outgaining them by more than 100 yards.  OT losses have a way of lingering for teams and this one especially might.

Houston 37 – Tampa Bay 9

Props to Houston.  They are showing more and more each week that they will have to be dealt with in the AFC.  On the other side Tampa has fallen off the rails as Josh Freeman has really struggled.  His injury may be affecting him more than we know.

Pittsburgh 24 – Cincinnati 17

This was a hard fought game but Cincinnati couldn’t make the plays they needed to down the stretch.  Still the Bengals were pretty impressive, especially against the run.  I think they can hang in there til the end.

Tennessee 30 – Carolina 3

I suppose it was bound to happen…Chris Johnson finally had a good game rushing for 130 yards.  At the same time Cam Newton couldn’t find his cape as the Panthers really struggled in most facets of the game.

Arizona 21 – Philadelphia 17

This was possibly the worst performance by Michael Vick since joining the Eagles.  It is only fitting as the loss will essentially eliminate them from contention.  Larry Fitzgerald, remember him, he hada monster today for John Skelton.

Denver 17 – Kansas City 10

Its like nobody wants to win the AFC West.  With Denver’s surprising road win all team’s in the division are within a game of each other with only 7 games left to play.  I didn’t think it was possible in the modern NFL but Tebow attempted just 8 passes (completing 2)…and they won. Dallas 44 – Buffalo 7

Buffalo was exposed big time by Tony Romo and Co. in Big D.  Dallas did whatever they wanted and the game was over before halftime.  Ryan Fitzpatrick turned the ball over a bunch of times and has played more poorly than well since the big extension.

St. Louis 13 – Cleveland 12

The Browns won the yardage battle, time of possession and turnovers but still lost the game.  Odd!!  Is there any way to explain either of these teams…and does anybody care.

Miami 20 – Washington 9

Two in a row for the Dolphins confirms two things:  Miami isn’t all that bad a team after all and Washington is.  They might not reach the absolute floor but if any team needed Andrew Luck it would be the Skins.

Seattle 22 – Baltimore 17

The Ravens have to be the most confounding team in the league.  They have two wins over Pittsburgh and two losses to Seattle and Jacksonville.  A horribly flat performance by Baltimore that Seattle took advantage of.

San Francisco 27 – New York Giants 20

Eli Manning is having a great season but he couldn’t get it done against San Francisco today.  The Giants had the lead in the third quarter but lost despite outgaining the Niners by almost 100 yards.  All Harbaugh does is win…but Gore is hurt

Chicago 37 – Detroit 13

Horrible showing by the Lions makes me wonder whether Detroit can fulfill the promise of their great start.  Only their home win against the Bears was against a quality opponent.  Kudos Chicago, you keep proving me wrong.

New England 37 – New York Jets 16

The Patriots were looking to make a statement in this one after losing a couple of games in a row.  They were pretty sharp but the gap in this one seemed as a much the Jets not showing up.  Either way now the Pats are in command in the division.

Green Bay 45 – Minnesota 7

This was the kind of result Vikings fans were afraid of.  Packers dominated and it didn’t even look like they were trying hard.  Minnesota has to get rid of their coach.
