Seahawks Look to Make it Three Straight – Hawks vs. Rams in Week 4

There will be a lot of talk about Monday Night’s debacle heading into Seattle’s Week 4 game against the St. Louis Rams. Truth be told, the Seahawks did enough in that game to win. A loss against the Packers would have been strangely acceptable but a win looks a whole lot better.

Seattle heads out on the road this week looking for its third straight win – this week they face a team on the opposite end of the spectrum as their previous two combatants – the Rams have been underwhelming to say the least and occupy the bottom third of most expert’s Power Rankings.

The Seattle Seahawks have proven that they are no joke. If they could have executed in the Red Zone in Week 1 they would be undefeated heading into Week 4. Rookie QB Russell Wilson hasn’t been asked to do too much and the game plan is certainly working. He has turned the ball over just once in three games, he has tossed four TDs (well… three really if you count the last play in Week 3!!) and he has completed 57% of his passes.

Marshawn Lynch has been the workhorse just as the coaching staff drew up in the preseason. Lynch is the emotional leader on the offense – he never gives up on a play and is a true difference maker for Seattle’s young nucleus. When things are going well, Lynch should touch the ball 25 times – a look back at his performances the first three weeks has revealed just that!

While the offense has been efficient, it has been Seattle’s defense that has truly raised a few eyebrows. They have become one of the best units in the NFL – 2nd against the run, tenth against the pass and allowing a league low 13 points per game. The Seattle defense is special and now has the honor of going up against a Rams offense that generated virtually nothing against the Bears last week.

The Rams are 1-2 on the season – he only win coming against the Redskins in a game that Sam Bradford had his best game in a long while and the Rams put up 31 points. Their other two games have been nothing to write home about – especially last week’s woeful 23-6 loss at Chicago. They were inept on offense – just 160 yards in the game. Now they face an equally tough defense – Seattle which doesn’t bode well.

The truth is that the Rams scare nobody on offense. Steven Jackson is already banged up and he went for just 29 yards last week. Sam Bradford is no Aaron Rodgers and should have a tough time with this defense. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Rams on defense are nothing special but they likely won’t have to be. They are 22nd against the pass and 21st against the run. The question is – can the offense do enough to keep them in this game.

Betting Prediction:

A few trends to consider:

  •  Seattle is 13-1 SU in its last 14 games when playing St. Louis
  •  Seattle is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games when playing on the road against St. Louis
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Seattle’s last 5 games
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Seattle’s last 6 games on the road
  •  The total has gone OVER in 4 of St. Louis’s last 6 games at home
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of St. Louis’s last 6 games when playing Seattle
  •  St. Louis is 3-5-1 ATS in its last 9 games at home
  •  St. Louis is 5-14-1 ATS in its last 20 games

This game shouldn’t be close. There will be a lot of talk about Monday night ahead of this game but the fact remains that the Hawks are sky high and as confident a team as there is in the game right now. St. Louis won’t be able to score and likely won’t be able to stop Marshawn Lynch. All together it looks like another long afternoon for Jeff Fisher and company.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks -2 1/2
