Season Win Totals NFL Predictions – San Francisco 49ers 2014 Lines

San Francisco 49ers Season Win Totals

The San Francisco 49ers enter the 2014-2015 season as one of the Super Bowl favorites again – and rightfully so! This is a team that has reached the NFC Championship game three straight seasons – as balanced and as dangerous as any team in the league.

There are a few issues with this team ahead of the season however, namely on defense which may have contributed to Vegas only instilling a 10.5 win total this year.

San Francisco looks like a lock to eclipse that total despite playing a tough schedule in the most impressive divisions in football.

The San Francisco 49ers will enter the season with one of the top defensive units in the game – no surprise. But a deeper look at the team reveals a few holes created by free agent departures, injuries and potential suspensions.

The suspension is that of Aldon Smith who could be out as many as eight games after his most recent transgressions – the injury is that of linebacker NaVarro Bowman who suffered an ugly injury in the NFC Championship game last year and the departures include CB Tarell Brown, CB Carlos Rogers and S Donte Whitner – their top two cornerbacks and their starting safety.

Chris Culliver who has had injury and legal troubles of his own will likely start at one corner spot will likely start opposite Tramaine Brock who was unflattering himself at points of the season last year.

Jimmie Ward was drafted to start at safety for San Francisco – he should provide an OK plug in the absence of Whitner.

Offensively San Francisco should be fine. Colin Kaepernick, armed with a new contract extension is back. Kaepernick will have newly acquired Stevie Johnson, a fully healthy Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis (he has apparently abandoned his contract holdout)t to throw to and will have reliable Frank Gore to hand the ball to out of the backfield.

There have been some injuries to players backing up Gore but rookie Carlos Hyde looks ready to pick up some slack.

San Francisco, despite all of the off-field issues is still one of the elite teams in the NFL – third favorite according to Vegas to win it all this year. Coaching, offense and defense are all among the best in the NFL.

The 49ers finished 12-4 last season – there is no reason to expect much of a drop-off in 2014.

49ers Season Wins Betting Prediction: Over 10.5

The defense may take a tiny step backward but I expect the offense to take a leap forward this season. An 11-5 season is the low end of their win total this season with a chance to go 12-4 or 13-3.

Take the over 10.5 wins quickly before the oddmakers change their minds!
