But things have’s exactly gone as planned in Atlanta – injuries, unflattering play and a typically sketchy defense have the Falcons in a spoiler roll already in this NFL season – unbelievable!
This week the Falcons host a Seattle Seahawks team that has been winning ugly the last few weeks, is just 1-4 ATS in their last five games but is still viewed as the most complete team in the NFC.

The Seattle Seahawks have hit a bit of a slump but like all good teams do – they are still finding ways to win. Last week it was in OT against a winless Tampa Bay team and before that was a close win over the Bradford-less Rams. Despite, a look at the numbers shows that this team is still top notch in more than their share of NFL categories.
The Hawks are fifth in the league in rushing, but a surprisingly low 27th in passing, and on defense they are second in total defense and second vs. the pass.
Seattle has beaten teams with Marshawn Lynch who has 726 yards and six touchdowns on the season, with Russell Wilson who has, 845 yards and 15 touchdowns through the air 375 yards and a touchdown on the ground and with their defense that gets after the QB, creates turnovers and squashes their opposition’s offense.

The Atlanta Falcons are certainly having a season to forget! 2-6 on the season, with their start receiver Julio Jones gone for the year, their other receiving Stud Roddy White constantly banged up and with a running game that has failed to get out of neutral so far this season.
QB Matt Ryan has been forced to carry this team on his back and although his numbers are OK he has 10 interceptions already to go along with 15 TDs.
Most of the blame for Atlanta’s woes can be pointed directly at the defense that has been awful this year. This unit is 26th in points allowed, 21st in yards allowed and 30th in the league in defensive efficiency.
They will have their hands full with a motivated, well-balanced Seattle offense on Sunday.

A few trends to consider:

• SEA are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 vs. NFC.
• Over is 8-3 in SEA last 11 road games.

• ATL are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games on fieldturf.
• Underdog is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings
Seattle has looked very beatable the last couple of weeks and although I think they win Sunday’s game I also think that the pride of the Falcons keeps this game close. Of the Falcons’ six losses, four have come by one score or less – I see a similar fate in Week 10.
The offenses dominate Sunday but Seattle’s defense creates the necessary turnovers for this team to squeak one out.
