Ravens vs 49ers NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Love the Har-Bowl nickname for this one and it should be a really good game too.  Both teams are coming in strong and ready to rock.  It should be a good one from start to finish and a tough one to call.   Yet another rematch too.

The Ravens sort of conquered the mountain by beating the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Their regular season was ho hum but with a trip to the Super Bowl fueled by the retirement of Ray Lewis this is a team to be reckoned with.  They have lots of players who have played in big games and lots of them which could be an advantage…Against San Francisco I think the Ravens will try and do more damage on the ground.

RB Ray Rice is a top back and they might find passing harder than they did against New England.  They are still going to need QB Joe Flacco to have a strong performance.  He keeps getting better as the playoff have progressed.  3 straight playoff games with ratings over 106.

Awesome…The Ravens beat San Francisco earlier this season by a very unexciting 16-6 score.

There have been so many rematches in these playoffs that I think all trends have been bucked and none were for the Big Game anyway.

There is definitely some value on the underdog especially if big money comes in on SF which is what many expect.

San Francisco

San Francisco is back in the Super Bowl.  It has been a while but it seems like a natural place for one of the league’s prize franchises.  Unlike those teams of the 1980’s this team has a dominating defense.

One that could easily take over the game even though the offenses they have faced in the playoffs have had some pretty good success against them… [soliloquy id=”82219″]

After destroying the Packers as a run-pass threat the week before Colin Kaepernick let his arm do the talking against Atlanta.  He completed 76% of his passes and was a steady hand even as the 49ers struggled to get going early.

Baltimore is more aggressive than the Falcons so I think we will see more running from CK.  Either way the experiment, if you can call it that anymore, is working – big time.

I wonder what the record is for least starts before winning a Super Bowl…San Fran has been a great play on team with an 11-4-1 ATS record in the regular season and two more ATS wins in the playoffs.

If you like that side you should probably get on it immediately.  I think it is unlikely to dip below the current number.  They have been favoured the last two weeks in the same range and beat it.  Odds are they do it again.

Spread Pick: San Francisco -3.5
O/U Pick:  Over
Score Prediction:  San Francisco 31 – Baltimore 21
