NFL Prop Predictions: Free 2014 Receiving Yardage Leader Gambling Lines & Pick

2014 NFL Picks / Prop Bets

Many would gladly hand the NFL receiving yardage crown to Detroit Lions wideout Calvin Johnson prior to games even getting underway, but the reality is, the award is very much up in the air in an era that has been very kind to passers.

Keep checking in with Cappers Picks all season long for winning angles and free weekly NFL Expert picks from our sports handicapping experts.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon took home the crown a year ago but isn’t expected to see the field this season, leaving the title up in the air.

Here are five pass-catching options that could fill that void this season.

Receiving Title OddsDez Bryant, Dallas Cowboys (+700)

Bryant is one of the league’s top wideouts, with one of its top quarterbacks throwing him the ball. He steps into the Calvin Johnson role in Scott Linehan’s pass-happy offense, and we all know the success Megatron enjoyed in that role.

Bryant will also be extra-motivated to come up with a big season as he plays for a new contract. Quarterback Tony Romo’s back is a concern, but Josh Gordon fared just fine with Brandon Weeden at the helm.

Receiving Title OddsDemaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos (+750)

With Eric Decker out of town and Wes Welker dealing with another concussion, Thomas is option 1A for Peyton Manning in the Bronco offense.

Thomas and Manning have already enjoyed a great rapport together, and could be in for big things this season. Thomas has the kind of height and strength that will make double-teams insignificant, meaning he’ll get just as much usage as the Broncos want out of him, which will be a lot.

Receiving Title OddsJulio Jones, Atlanta Falcons (+900)

Jones was on pace for a special season a year ago before an injury put him on the shelf. He’s back this year, and ready to excel.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Quarterback Matt Ryan doesn’t get the kind of respect he deserves as an elite passing option. With Tony Gonzalez out of town, Jones should see another major uptick in usage, and that should have him right back on track for a special season.

Receiving Title OddsBrandon Marshall (+1600)

Fellow wide receiver Alshon Jeffery emerged last season as a viable second receiver behind Marshall. While many may view that as a detriment to Marshall’s statistical potential this upcoming season, it should be quite the opposite.

Jeffery will force defenses to keep an eye on him as well, rather than focusing all of their attention on Marshall, who remains the apple of Jay Cutler’s eye. Jeffery had many of his best games with Josh McCown at the helm.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Receiving Title OddsJeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles (+5000)

Maclin is back on the field after missing all of last season with a knee injury. He’ll step into the role that helped rejuvenate DeSean Jackson’s career, hoping it will do the same for him.

Maclin will be surrounded by a slew of unproven pass-catchers, which will make him the top option for Nick Foles right out of the gate.

If he can stay healthy and hold off Jordan Matthews, a big year will be in the cards for the Missouri product.

CappersPicks.com has NFL odds up on a ton of futures, and you will also find NFL lines up for early games as well.
