With ground to make up they can’t afford to waste an opportunity to take on a struggling team like St. Louis.

Last week they played in the slop and got it done but this week they will be indoors and I think it will be more of the same.

These Bears are not great but they pose some matchup problems and should succeed.

Chicago

I am not sure how good this Bears team really is but I know I like them better with Josh McCown at the helm than I do with Jay Cutler.

With Cutler out McCown gets another start and I think the Rams are going to see a steady diet of WRs Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery – there may be better duos out there but I am not sure there are any who as as physical as those two.

Their success and the fact that McCown is a backup who can actually pass opens up running lanes for Matt Forte who is enjoying a very good season.

The best thing about McCown is that he hasn’t turned the ball over which makes it easy for the Bears takeaway happy defense to win that all important battle.

I don’t like the way these guys are always punching away at the ball but it is hard to argue with their success rate and the ability to turn TOs into points in a heartbeat.

That is partly what makes the Bears the second highest scoring team in the league

St. Louis

Two weeks ago the Rams had one of the most shocking wins of the season when they went into Indianapolis and dominated the Colts 38-8. Instead of being able to parlay that into another game Rams have been on ice with their bye week.

Some say the value of the bye depends on the coach and if that is true than advantage STL because they have one of the best in Jeff Fisher. The season may be a disappointment so far but it hasn’t been a disaster and win over Chicago would put this team in the playoff picture while weakening a potential rival.

Like the Bears the Rams are playing with their backup QB in Kellen Clemens.

I am no fan of Sam Bradford but Clemens is not a stellar backup as he has shown often. One key takeaway from the win against the Colts is that the Rams may have finally figured out how to get production out of rookie Tavon Austin.

A bust most of the season he scored his first points in months can be a factor in any game with his gamebreaking ability. The Rams will need it again.

Spread Pick: Chicago +1
