New York had their playoff hopes dashed with a 37-14 loss in San Diego in Week 14 after they had clawed back in the race by winning five of their previous six games. The Seattle Seahawks on the other hand have done little wrong this year but had a seven game win streak snapped last week in a hard-fought loss to the 49ers. Seattle should be extra-motivated to get a win this week in a building that will host the Super Bowl in February.

For the Seattle Seahawks, defense had been a major story this year. But the team will go into Sunday’s game without KJ Wright and their two starting cornerbacks. Worried? Don’t be – the backups on this team have filled in admirably – Malcolm Smith who will replace Wright is more than capable – he may be a starter on any other NFL team!
The Hawks will go against a New York offense that has turned the ball over an astounding 34 times this year – two more interceptions and a fumble last week. Add in the fact that Eli Manning has struggled, Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nick have been invisible at times this year and it looks very good for the Seattle defense to further their legend Sunday.

As for Seattle’s offense – they are averaging 27.5 points per game and 356.6 yards per game this year – more than a sufficient to the Hawks crazy D. Russell Wilson has completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions and he has rushed for 458 yards. Marshawn Lynch has been the Seahawks running game with 1,042 yards and 10 touchdowns. Golden Tate has 52 receptions and four touchdowns and Doug Baldwin has 43 receptions and four touchdowns.
The question is how New York’s defense will slow the Seattle offense. This unit is somehow 7th ranked but may be forced to play without Jason Pierre-Paul once again – a huge loss for this fragile bunch. Marshawn Lynch played well the last time Seattle faced the Giants, totaling 131 yards with 98 and a touchdown on the ground in a 36-25 road victory Oct. 9, 2011 and New York has surrendered 390 rushing yards over the past three games – it looks pretty good for Lynch and the running game Sunday.

• Over is 12-4 in SEA last 16 games in December.
• SEA are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games overall.
• Over is 6-2 in NYG last 8 home games.
• Over is 6-2 in NYG last 8 games on fieldturf.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where I am going with this pick. Seattle is just too good in every aspect of the game and too motivated to lock up the NFC. The Giants on the other hand look as though all of the wind has been taken out of their sails – last week’s ugly loss is further proof. This game has blowout written all over it!
