How Can New York Win?
Dominate the line of scrimmage. For almost every week of the season except for last week, the Giants defensive line has been controlling football games. If Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and the rest of the crew can get to Vick or at least keep him in the pocket but still pressure him, this Eagles team will look very different.
On offense, the Giants have to stop making silly mistakes. Last week, a pick-six changed the game and later, an offensive hold crippled the comeback when Hakeem Nicks broke free for a touchdown. There isn’t much missing on this unit as they have a smart quarterback, a solid group of receivers and a good running game. Now they just have to cut out the bonehead plays.
How Can Philadelphia Win?
Just let Michael Vick go to work. Vick has arguably been the best player in the NFL this season and nobody has had a solution for him. Considering the Giants were shredded by Jon Kitna last week, they could be in some serious trouble facing Vick on Sunday night.
Vick has transformed into a pass-first quarterback, which makes him extremely tough to stop. If you don’t get to him in time he might throw a 40-yard rocket down the field and if you get to him and miss him, the most explosive player in the NFL will embarrass your defense with his feet.
But it’s not just Vick; he’s surrounded with plenty of big-time playmakers. Running back LeSean McCoy has excellent burst and vision, DeSean Jackson is a big-time playmaker and so is Jeremy Maclin.
This offense is hot, confident and has momentum right now. And with the defense, we always know the Eagles bring the house and with the amount of points the offense has been scoring, it has made the defensive job much easier.
Outlook
As a bettor, you simply can’t bet against the Eagles right now. Yes, they did play on Monday Night Football and are on a short week of preparation, but in this case, that’s a good thing. The Eagles will carry their momentum from 59-28 win and keep on rolling.
The Giants are a mistake-prone team – especially on offense – and their defense showed that they have plenty of holes still. They gave up big play after big play to the Cowboys, which is a very bad sign now that they are facing one of the most explosive teams in the NFL.
