Monday Night Football Pick – Week 3

LOOKING FOR THE BEST NFL CAPPERS ON THE PLANET FOR YOUR MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL GAMBLING PICKS??? —>

The NFL betting hits just keep on coming for the Monday nighter. Last week, the Colts and Dolphins treated us to a tight game. This week, football fans feast their eyes on shiny new Cowboys Stadium as the Panthers and Cowboys go head to head in what should be a high-scoring affair.

Carolina Panthers @ Dallas Cowboys (-8.5)
Tonight, 8:35 p.m. ET

You know Tony Romo is hungry for redemption after an embarrassing Week 2 effort against the Giants in which he threw three interceptions. There’s a good chance he’ll get his wish tonight if Carolina’s 2009 performance to date is any indication. Matt Ryan and the Falcons torched them in Week 1; Donovan McNabb didn’t rack up crazy yardage but he hit pay dirt through the air against the Panthers in Week 2. The main reason good passing teams are burning Carolina; the Panthers can’t rush the passer. They have two sacks through two games and Julius Peppers has been a non-factor. Tony Romo should have plenty of time to throw the ball this week, so he should connect with Roy Williams, Jason Witten and Patrick Crayton early and often.

Some pessimistic betting services experts will worry that Dallas could struggle without Marion Barber, who is doubtful to play tonight with a thigh injury, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Felix Jones is more than a backup; he’s a legit home-run threat whenever he touches the ball and should have a nice day against a Panther run defense allowing 168 yards a game. Tashard Choice also showed late last year that he can handle starting duties – and did it against much fiercer run defenses than Carolina’s. Translation; the Cowboys not only can run the ball without Barber tonight, but they’ll flourish.

Can the Panthers keep pace with the Cowboys? Well, we can at least assume DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart will hold up their end of the bargain, as the Cowboys surprisingly ranked 30th in the league in total defense entering this week’s online sports betting matchup. Jake Delhomme, however, can’t be trusted with DaMarcus Ware breathing down his neck.

The Cowboys at least have a shot to bottle up Delhomme and their run defense isn’t as bad as it looked against Tampa in Week 1; we also know America’s Team should light up the scoreboard against a Panther “D” that looks weaker by the day. Bet on the Cowboys to cover the spread and get their first win in their new digs.

NFL pick: Cowboys -8.5

It is hard to say what Panther’s team will show up tonight. They are better then how they have looked, but they are catching the Cowboys at a bad time. I cannot see the Cowboys dropping the second game in their new stadium, but I am sceptical they will cover the 8.5.
