Things looked good as the Raiders jumped out to an early three-point lead on a 34-yard field goal by Sebastian Janakowksi, but just two minutes later the Titans would strike back rolling up 24 unanswered points on their way to handing Oakland their seventh straight season-opening loss.

With a new quarterback and an overhauled defense, Oakland was supposed to be well on their way its first winning season since 2002. So what went wrong?

Well for starters, the Raiders’  O-line offered up Campbell not once, not twice but for times to a sack-happy Titans D. It’s no wonder he was able to only complete just 22 passes for 180 yards with a touchdown and an interception, as he spent most of his time avoiding the Titans’ tenacious pass rush.

The Raiders’ anemic offense finished just shy of 300 yards, but received a sound performance from RB Darren McFadden who carried the Oakland rushing attack solely on his shoulders as Michael Bush remained sidelined with a thumb injury. McFadden gained 95 yards on 18 carries while grabbing six balls for 55 yards and the only Raiders touchdown of the contest.

The Oakland offense will have to step it up if it’s going to avoid losing a sixth consecutive home opener at the hands of a Rams defense that despite few breakdowns of their own, forced seven Cardinal fumbles, recovering four of them while sacking quarterback Derek Anderson twice.

St. Louis wasted little time baptizing No. 1 overall draft pick Sam Bradford by fire in last Sunday’s opener against Arizona. The former Oklahoma standout attempted 55 passes while throwing for 253 yards and his first career touchdown. He also threw three interceptions as the Rams’ lost its ninth straight game.

Wide receiver Laurent Robinson caught Bradford’s single touchdown pass, but Mark Clayton pulled in a career-high 10 receptions for 119 yards against Arizona.

One might have expected a better performance out of Rams’ RB Steven Jackson who rushed for just for 81 yards on 22 carries. However, it’s possible that Jackson has a breakout day against an Oakland run defense that surrendered 205 yards on the ground including a 76-yard run from Tennessee RB Chris Johnson.

Matt’s Free Prediction: St. Louis– The Raiders defense may have had its share of problems, but they were still able to hold Tennessee to just 140 yards passing, while at the same time took some hits on the ground. Jackson is every bit as prolific as Johnson is, so I expect the Rams to pull off the upset in Oakland.
