Let’s take a look at the numbers:

With just under a year of experience under his belt, Colin Kaepernick returns to guide what is one of the two or three best all around teams in the entire league.

Top to bottom the San Francisco 49ers are elite. Their coaching is top tier, their defense is off the charts, their running game is as good as there is in the NFL and their QB could be one of the biggest talents in the game today. The team brought in Anquan Boldin and Nnamdi Asomugha What’s not to love?

San Francisco’s offense was once seen as simply a compliment to a defense that struck the fear of God in their opposition. Not anymore. Colin Kaepernick has transformed the identity of this team and has made the 49ers one of the most balanced teams in the NFL.

He threw for 1,814 yards, 10 touchdowns and just three interceptions all while compiling 415 rushing yards and five more scores on the ground in seven starts – impressive. When the pressure was on he threw for 263yards (17-of-31 passing), 183 rushing yards and four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) against Green Bay in the playoffs. He is seen as unflappable and gained a ton of credibility during his short time in the league. We have frequently seen sophomore slumps in the past but Kaepernick seems different – Coach Harbaugh is one of the best in the business and will have him ready for anything this year. Kaepernick’s progression is not without its question marks however – Michael Crabtree’s torn Achilles could be an issue – Crabtree was Colin’s favorite target by a mile last year. But sure-handed Anquan Boldin is in the mix and Vernon Davis has had more time to build some necessary chemistry with his second-year pivot.

When and if Kaepernick struggles the 49ers have the benefit of one of the premier workhorses running the ball for them. Frank Gore rushed for 1,212 yards in 2012 and he stayed healthy – a good sign for this team going forward. Backup LeMichael James is a terrific option for the Niners giving them a quality two-headed rushing attack.

Thanks to a terrific offensive line, the backs look like they can’t fail.

All told the 49ers could have a special offense this upcoming season. They will likely have to only be good, not great as the defense promises to be top shelf once again.

Defensively the Niners will be plain scary once again. Led by Aldon Smith who recorded 19.5 sacks last year and Justin Smith, the Niners posess an outstanding pass rush, insanely talented run stoppers and decent pass coverage.

There are some concerns about the secondary but teams will likely have a hard time getting the ball to their receivers. There is a chance that newly signed Nnamdi Asomugha could regain his form and shake the memory of a miserable stay in Philadelphia. If he can somehow rediscover his form, San Francisco’s defense could be legendary.

And then there is Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman who are the envy of every team in the NFL!

49ers Betting Outlook:

The 49ers are about as complete a team as there is heading into the 2013 season. They are Super Bowl favorites for a reason! I don’t expect a sophomore slump nor do I think there will be much of a drop-off for this team this year. Seattle looms but they will likely only push the 49ers throughout the season.

The 49ers win the NFC West and go on to avenge a loss in last year’s playoffs on their way to a Super Bowl crown.

They are too talented in every aspect of the game not to achieve this goal.
