The Super-Bowl favorite Denver Broncos have been as advertised so far this season- undefeated and looking virtually unstoppable on defense. Unfortunately the Oakland Raiders are also as advertised – a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars while nice, hardly acted to squash the notion that the Raiders are among the league worst teams.

The two teams meet on Monday night with Denver opening as a large 14 1/2 point favorite.
The Oakland Raiders, if nothing else, have ended a mini-quarterback controversy that loomed in camp. Terrelle Pryor has emerged for this team and has looked good – 343 yards through the air and a TD to go along with an impressive 162 yards rushing.

Pryor is a threat that every team absolutely has to account for – it gives Oakland at least a little credibility on offense.
And then there is Darren McFadden who last year entered the season looking like an elite back. That was last year! This year he entered the season with limited expectations and he’s looked alright! As mentioned Terrelle Pryor has been the difference maker on this offense – it will be interesting to see how he operates against a top unit like the one in Denver.
Defense was always seen to be a strength of the Oakland Raiders and they have not disappointed this year. They are not in the top tier or two but this unit has held its own so far in two games allowing just 80.5 yards per game on the ground and 180 yards through the air per game. But, and that is a big BUT, the Raiders face a Denver offense that has been on a completely different level when they hit the field Sunday. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Now for the Broncos! How good have they been? They have beaten two quality playoff teams so far quite handily – the Ravens and the Giants. The offense has been diverse and deadly and Peyton Manning has the way-too-early lead in the MVP standings. Manning has 769 yards passing and nine TDs so far – nine! And Wes Welker, Eric Decker, Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas each have at least 10 catches over 100 yards receiving so far. The running game led by Knowshon Moreno has also done its part this year.
Simply put the Broncos are the scariest offense in the game right now – 90 points for in two games. It doesn’t appear that anyone can stop them let alone the average Raiders.
As for Denver’s defense they have been playing without some key pieces but still sit at the top of the league in run D – just 40.5 yards per game. It’s proof that the best defense is a good offense! The pass D has struggled a tad however – maybe because they are under siege as teams play catch-up seemingly all game long against this team.

It will take a monumental effort for the Raiders to even keep this game close on Monday night – there is no way that the Raiders can put up the 30+ points necessary to even come close to this team. The Broncos roll! I see a 34-10 type score in this one – easy to call!
