The Steelers are making a push for AFC North supremacy while the Jets are just hoping to salvage some pride for coach Rex Ryan who is in all likelihood in his last season at the helm for gang green.

This game has all the makings of a blowout as the suddenly red hot Steelers travel to MetLife to take on what might be the worst team in the NFL in the form of the New York Jets. After a pretty mediocre start to the season the Steelers have rattled off three straight wins and done so in impressive fashion with QB Ben Roethlisberger torching opposing defenses.

It seems as though everyone can’t stop drooling over what Tom Brady and the Patriots have been doing since getting embarrassed by the Chiefs, but the Steelers are drawing a lot of the very same parallels after a pathetic showing against the Browns four weeks ago, the Steelers have won three straight and scored 124 points in that span.

Steelers

Let’s take a closer look at this team that has suddenly thrown its hat into the ring as a contender in the AFC. Big Ben as mentioned has been on fire, setting an NFL record in the last two weeks as the first QB to fire six TD passes in back to back games. All signs point to Ben setting a nearly unbreakable record for a three week span this week as he faces a Jets defense that has surrendered 24 passing TDs this season and has made just one interception.

Running back Le’Veon Bell and wideout Antonio Brown have sparked this offense alongside Roethlisberger and have given the Steelers one of the most dynamic attacks in terms of being able to mix running with passing and throws to Bell out of the backfield.

On defense, well this isn’t your conventional Steelers team. They’ve been giving up bundles of yards and in their last four games have surrendered 111 points but have managed to go 3-1 in that stretch thanks to the play of the offense. This is usually the pedigree of the other Pennsylvania team the Philadelphia Eagles, scoring their way out of trouble.

Jets

Where to start with this team? They can’t find a QB to run this offense, the running game has been solid but a good run game can only go so far without a pass attack to back it up, and their turnover margin looks like something out of a video game.

This is not a typo, Rex Ryan’s defense has managed just one interception and two fumble recoveries in nine games for a whopping three turnovers. For some context on that stat, Jets QB Geno Smith threw three interceptions against the Buffalo Bills in week 8…in the first quarter. In total the Jets have a league worst -15 turnover ratio after just nine games, five worse than any other team in the league.

The defense, despite a lack of turnovers has been the lone (sort of) bright spot for the Jets, with the league’s sixth best total defense allowing just 319.4 yards per game. It’s hard to lean on that number though when you look at their league worst 24 passing touchdowns allowed.

Week 10 Steelers vs. Jets 4* Free Pick

How can you pick anything but the Steelers to cover four points in this one? Yes the Steelers have been giving up a lot of points but they’re playing a Jets offense that looks lost out there every week. With the rate that the Jets give up passing TDs and the way Roethlisberger is playing right now this should be a walk in the park for Pittsburgh.

The Jets have been outscored by a combined 81 points in their last five games (16.2 points per game), it would be a small miracle if they keep this game within one score. Take the Steelers.
