Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles Preview

On the season the Redskins are 1-1 ATS and have an Over/Under record of 1-1 and the Eagles are 2-0 ATS with an Over/Under record of 2-0.

This season the Eagles are 1-0 at home and the Redskins are 0-1 on the road.
In their last games the Redskins crushed the Jacksonville Jaguars 41-10 and the Eagles upset the Indianapolis Colts 30-27 on the road on Monday night.

The good news for the Redskins is that Robert Griffin III does not have a broken ankle and will not be out for the season.

The bad news in that he will miss this big division game. However, is that really bad news? When RG3 went out early in the Jaguars game backup Kirk Cousins came in and played great. Ok so that was against the Jags, but can he do the same on the road against Philly? Big question.

While the Redskins have played 2 teams that were horrible last season their defense has only given up a total of 16 points. However, to say they will be tested in this game by Chip Kelly’s Eagles’ offense would be an understatement. So far the Eagles rank 2nd in the NFL in passing yards per game and 9th in rushing yards per game.

Nick Foles passed for over 330 yards in the win over the Colts and he has a solid WR corps and a good TE in Zach Ertz. On top of that Darren Spro9les has fit in nicely for his new team and in the Indy win he had 7 catches for 152 yards.

LeSean McCoy has yet to crack the 100-yard barrier and he is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry. However, he and Sproles are a dynamic threat out of the backfield and if the Skins do not keep these guys from having big games they are toast.

Cousins completed his first 12 passes off the bench in the Jacksonville game and he also has a many weapons at his disposal. He is a more of a pocket passer than RG3, so it is key that the Redskins’ offensive line gives him time in the pocket.

The Eagles had 3 sacks in their season opener facing Jacksonville, but did not have any in the win over the Colts.

Alfred Morris and Roy Helu are a great 1-2 combo out of the backfield for the Redskins and these may be THE key guys the Eagles have to stop. After 2 games the Eagles’ run defense only ranks 20th in the league and they will get a big dose of this duo this Sunday.

Cappers NFL 4* Free Pick

Ok, so the Skins are my team and while I would love to pick them I cannot. The Eagles have too many offensive weapons and Cousins will not play as well as he did last week against Jacksonville. Take Philly to win this game at home and cover the 6.5-point spread.
